Why Only 10?! That's not a good sign? I want 16 or 13 at least

What do YOU think of A&E buying the show? Does that make a difference in any level!?
I honestly don't know I was trying to read any comments about that but found none : /

It's a little surprising. But...who knows what went into A&E's decision. The Deadline.com article (http://www.deadline.com/tag/longmire/) mentioned a few business reasons why they might not renew a few days ago, like new management and the fact that they don't own the show.

I'm actually okay with 10 episodes. I think this season really suffered in the middle, and it's clear they're going to start strong and finish strong, and leave the middle episodes to be mostly filler-ish case-of-the-week stuff. So I think we're not necessarily missing out on great stuff if they leave off those 3 episodes?

This season was already too short. I don't want less episodes. But if it gives Katee time to do more work like Riddick, I'll keep my mouth shut. :D

I'm fine with it, considering I don't think we got more good stuff for having those 3 extra episodes. And I'm hoping her movie career really gets hotter after Riddick. ;)

I'm good with 10 episodes really, especially if they're ten episodes that tie the case of the week into character development. Or balance the two. I don't love waiting 9+ months between seasons but I vastly prefer the tight storytelling that typically comes from shorter season.

Still a shorter wait than for the next series of Sherlock...

Ahhh, good news. It's a long wait, though. 10 good episodes would be awesome. They had such a good story arc the first season by feeding us bits of Walt-in-Denver over many episodes. Something like that seemed to be missing this year.
Thanks for the info!

I would like them to find a new long arc though. As much as I enjoy the bits with Walt working the mystery around his wife's death and I've liked how it's unfolded, it would like resolution instead of another twist this time next year. There is plenty of places for other mysteries closer to home, using other characters and play with the supernatural elements. Exploring that would be cool.
