The last time I tried to replace my trusty Info (brand) flatbed scanner with something newer, I had to install a 260MB package of drivers. Since HP clearly sucks too much to just allow you to do an install of the bare TWAIN drivers, I've taken drastic measures to ensure than I'm going to be able to continue to use my workhorse indefinitely.

Very cool, but vaporware... and at $90,000, expensive vaporware.

If I had the time, money, luck, and DIY known-how, I'd really love to be able to do something like this. It looks like a hell of a lot of work, but could be immensely rewarding. However, I just know something would end up blowing up in my face if I tried to do it.

This puts star trek slash to shame.

I found out the other day that apparently, Deloreans are made out of stainless steel. It boggles my mind that something so simple isn't more common. Here in Syracuse, we have cars that don't make it to 10 years old because the rust brought on by the fucking road salt eating the frame away.
