...in which Who is totally aware of itself as myth, the World Tree is in play, the Leaf is life and death and life again, Clara eats the fruit of the Otherworld and is a contradiction, and the Doctor is a Sun God.

Do you mind if I tell you a story, one you might not have heard? )

Yay! *happy dance*

Have you been peeking at my Christmas list?

Love the bit about eating the fruit of the Otherworld. I knew there was something there, I just couldn't put my finger on it. Blue, glowing fruit!

This ties the Persephone myth into the Doctor bringing Clara back home at the end. Persephone eats the fruit of the Underworld, but it doesn't permanently consign her there -- instead, she travels back and forth between the worlds, working with Life above and the Dead below.

Hades, Persephone's husband was in the Underworld. the Doctor has often been presented as Hades in Moffat era Who....yeah, Hades tricks Persephone into eating a pomegranite which binds her to the Underworld for part of the year- she always has to return there. Like the Doctor pushing companions to their limits and changing them forever.

OMG the Sistine ceiling!

And I totally get your final line about curtailing meta because one has to stop somewhere. That said *grin* the World tree and the celestial monochord really make me think about the human brain, brain stem, limbic system and last week's episode.

And then Google gives me

I so had to stop with the meta...i could have written a bunch more on this, but i'm trying not to let it take over my life, which can happen at times!!

Ah, not really familiar with the idea of the Celestial Monochord, at least not called by that name, - though I am familiar with the idea of music/different notes representing different spiritual energies (something that got ditched with all the things i didn't have time to write about!) but it totally ties in.

Yeah, i love the image of the brain stem and limbic systems as linked to trees - that is interesting about the Sistine ceiling. Hmmm.

Basically, I would like to say you are not the only one feeling this way! *holds out hand*
It's unbelievable how a tv show can get to mean SO MUCH! It's actually very sane, come to think of it, very inspiring and awe inducing!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

yeah, I'm fond of exclamation marks in general, but does DW deserve it plenty!!!
