Ah! Is this a Doctor Who version of 'The Fountain'?

[Amazing mystical film about a tree, death, possible reincarnation, love and the cosmos, starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz]

Never actually seent he Fountain, though I must do! But from what I know of it I certanily think it's drawing on a lot of the same mythic themes and archetypes as Who, for sure!

That was amazing! Great meta, so much mythology. Your first paragraphs about the importance of myth reminded me of 'Mythago Wood' by Robert Holdstock. About how it shapes and is shaped by the mind, and the power of myth even today.

The Sun/Doctor: I was under the impression the Doctor has been associated with the Sun for quite a while with the regeneration energy coming out as solar flares, the TARDIS being the Sun in the dying Universe, the association of Amy with sunflowers 'half-human as they turn to the sun', at a time when Amy was still worshippping him.

I follow you completely on Clara being a trap, something you can lose yourself into; she's named Oswald after all, which can be read as 'wald' forest in German...

Such an interesting read. Thank you!
