I Love Typography And so should you. :(
This is such a horrifyingly geeky post but I really like reading through threads at the
Tyophile forums and reading about different typography concerns, from the latest Firefox webfonts availability issue to the fact that Barack Obama has a
typeface you can believe in.
I'm also the kind of person who laughs at
type humor ajdf;ajfa don't look at me like that.
If I'm less poor and more acquisitive of things that are of no use to me (lies, you can never have too many fonts D:), these are the typefaces I'd like to own:
1. Arno Pro
It's beautiful and elegant and augh, I want a book of mine to be set in Arno Pro trufax. :( Reading Tyophile made me realize how much work it takes to create a font meant for typesetting long texts.
2. Archer
A font approved by Martha fucking Stewart is A++ by me! The style is what you call a "slab serif" which harkens to the Industrial Revolution signages that are bold and brassy. Archer though looks very feminine yet modern. It has been compared to
Audrey Hepburn and I must say I agree.
3. Liza Pro
People from Underware and Sudtipos make the best script fonts BAR NONE. I really like the quirkiness of Liza Pro. It still looks like something handwritten but it's just so classy-looking. It would be very good for chick lit book covers. ;_;
If people are looking for good free fonts, there's
Jos Buivenga and
The League of Moveable Type.
For those who care about that comment fic meme thing: I've
written two. More soon. :(
