Ha Jin Haven't read his work either. D: But judging by his author photo, idk. Melancholy calligraphy students?
Banana Yoshimoto Bored wives of diplomats.
Nick Joaquin People who buy their pandesal/hopia/isaw from the same vendor over and over again.
Conrado de Quiros Pensioners who play dama or chess, most likely in their sandos.
Jessica Zafra High school students making their first book report ever.
Kubo Tite I'm not really familiar with Kubo Tite's type of stories save for one aborted attempt to read Bleach. So: Boys who yearn to do silly things like sing karaoke but are afraid of losing their cred.
Oh. *_* See, my only contact with Ray Bradbury was in high school, where we ~analysed~ part of The Martian Chronicles... it failed to make an impression on me and kfsjsfsk ok, so I feel that's partly because my professor hated him and like, kept making little remarks about it. :| But! This sounds like he's worth another try and I'll be looking for a copy soon. :D
Also: William Faulkner. -_- who is not my favourite author, just a frustrating obstacle in my resolution to Read Moar Books dfjhsfj.
Adafjafa I'm glad you're thinking of giving him a try. Bradbury's really a "your mileage may vary" kind of writer, because I've read of people who find him too sentimental. Case in point my favorite story of his is "The Fog Horn" and it's lol kind of weird. I do think Something Wicked This Way is his *best* work. I just like Death Is a Lonely Business for deeply personal reason.
William Faulkner Alcoholics who hate Ernest Hemingway's guts.
Ohh. Well, my memories of The Martian Chronicles are pretty vague but I do keep linking some sense of melancholy to the story we read (which was And the Moon Be Still as Bright, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it s,kfshf)... ANYWAY. That story you linked... really is weird but within the boundaries of what I expected of him? I actually enjoyed it even if his style is still something I have to get used to lol. Thank you for the recs! :D
jdfgs sobbing, you are awesome. M-maybe that's what I need to do to finish this book of his - get drunk.
Adfjadfk alcoholism is probably the only solution. I can't stand Faulkner too. I've only ever read As I Lay Dying. One of the characters thought he was fish? Idk. :( I prefer Hemingway a lot more. I like my alcoholics with a touch of bullfighting.

I didn't know there was a community like 50bookchallenge! *has been living under a rock* also, have not read anything by Ray Bradbury yet, but I shall get to it sometime this year hopefully ._.v
Bob Ong Kids who want to rebel against ~strict~ parents.
Cory Doctorow People who haven't bought an actual DVD or CD since 2001.
Douglas Adams Office workers who don't iron their clothes.
Neal Stephenson A hybrid of two demographics: ex-cryptographers from the Cold War and ex-seminarians.
Carlo Vergara Bicurious boys and girls.
Pol Medina Men who like to take their girlfriends to the carnival for their dates.
Yay, I'm happy enlighten! \o/ If you're just getting into Ray Bradbury, I'd like to recommend Something Wicked This Way Comes. It's sort of YA but has a nice emotional punch to it.
