You could also submit pieces of stories you've written... see if there's any editorial web-work to be found. You also have loads of experience with web-site building... so what if you're self-taught?! That's a plus to many potential employers! It means you're willing to learn, are intelligent (shut up, woman, I don't wanna hear it) and versatile enough to work on multiple tasks and venues at the same time. And of course your skill at multi-tasking... definitely not something to say 'feh' over - I can't multitask for shit most days
