For Heracles, he found that the best way for him to relax, outside of curling up with his cats and taking a nap, was to lose himself in the philosophy or literature sections of the local bookstore. The staff there knew him by name at this point, and also that he liked to read Plato and his favorite animal was the cat, and... that was about it, since Heracles didn't really open up to them that much beyond that. But they left him well enough alone anyway, so he didn't really mind either way ( ... )

With a little start, Kiku looked up, his concentration snapped. When he picked up Greek philosophy, he had not been expecting to meet someone...more fitting of Greek mythology. Color quickly rising to his cheeks, he realized that he'd been asked a question.

"O-oh...I'm reading..." He flipped over the book, showing the cover. "Phaedo. It's...Plato, I think." Kiku smiled sheepishly, joking. "Light reading."

He was more than a little surprised to have been approached in the bookstore, especially in the philosophy section. Occasionally, if he was near the manga it wasn't unheard of, but never anywhere else. But...if it was polite conversation the stranger was after, he could stand to oblige him a little while.

Phaedo; he'd read it a couple times, and it was definitely one of the more interesting of Plato's works, if not a little headache-inducing. Heracles grinned a little bit and nodded. "Light reading. Right... " He leaned forward in his chair. "Hey, you're not a student here or anything, are you?" He was pretty sure he'd never seen the guy around on campus, but it seemed like most people he encountered around here wouldn't go for Plato unless they were getting graded on it. Plus, it looked like he'd been taking notes, too. And he looked young enough, so he thought he'd try.

Kiku sat a little straighter as the man leaned towards him, finding himself a little mesmerized by the color of his eyes. Not that he wasn't used to seeing people with blue or green or hazel eyes by now, but occasionally he would be caught off guard by the intensity of a color, or something he found to be particularly unusual or unnatural or exotic. Exotic definitely fit this person...

But he found himself a little disappointed when the (near inevitable) question was asked. "No...I've not been a student for quite some time." From the question, he assumed that he'd made yet another acquaintance at least ten, if not twelve or thirteen years his junior.
