WHO: Valdi and Sindre
WHEN: Wednesday night, Aug 4th, 6:15pm
WHERE: Their shared Charleston Apartment
WHAT: Valdi learns that when buying an exotic bird, you should probably consult your brother first.
Valdi was in trouble. He knew he was in trouble. And with Sindre to boot, the last person he wanted to be a hassle to.
Every step he took home felt forced, as if all his willpower and conscience was devoted solely to convincing him not to enter that apartment. That, and trying to prepare himself for the possibilities of what would happen when he opened that door.
(He didn't want to imagine what dealing with Sindre angry was like, and was almost sure he was about to find out.)
As he dragged his feet through Charleston reception Valdi continued to play through every possible scenario in his head. He'd have to give the Puffin back without a doubt, and then perhaps...wait for it to tide over? Was that even possible?
At the time purchasing the exotic bird had seemed like a great idea. The company agreed to ship it to his door (To, not inside, but one problem was enough to deal with right now) and promised that he could pay as the money became available.
They'd met briefly in person and the man had looked like a normal vendor, smiled, encouraged him, maybe been a little pushy....but it seemed like a great idea.
And Valdi had intended to tell his brother, once he found the words to explain it.
The elevator door opened and Valdi stood forlorn in the metal compartment, staring at the carpeted ground before him until the lift doors began to start their forewarn beeping. He stepped out and made his way down the corridor and to the apartment door.
Deluding himself that opening the door gently would allow him to slip past his brother and this whole entire situation, Valdi finally allowed himself to enter the apartment.
The first thing he saw was Sindre.
He swallowed, mentally bracing himself for what was to come.
