By the time his coffee had reached a temperature tolerant of his lips, the rain had reached a downpour. He cradled the paper cup in his hands, and let the flats of his fingers rest atop the cardboard slip. He liked his sugar differently than he took his tea. That is to say: lots of cream, lots of sugar, and caramel. He could barely taste the coffee, once he got past the fact that he'd burned his tongue when trying his first sip the moment the barrista called his name.
"I'm sorry I haven't been able to talk to you as of late, Yao," the Welshman admits in a breath of silence. "It's nice, being able to talk face-to-face after nothing but texts and emails."
