Welcome to our eighth prompt post.

As ususal, here are a few things to keep in mind:

1) All fills for prompts of the earlier prompt posts go in the post the prompt was posted in. No re-posting or splitting up prompts and fills.
2) Self-prompt when you post unprompted fic. (This means posting what the fill is about in a first comment, like a real ( Read more... )

NuLab Girl Band AU anonymous November 27 2010, 23:10:52 UTC
Prompted by this (oldish) NuLab article by Mary Ann Sieghart:

"I once compared the men at the nexus of new Labour to a girl band: fiercely close but forever bitching at each other and threatening to split."

They worked as Gorillaz, but surely this one needs to be done, too? Girl band of auth-anon's choice.

The Mandy/Ali interview? AC's website promises and then fails to deliver - anyone?

"Where the fuck is Alison?"

Petra didn't look up from her hand-mirror. "Still at her Closer interview, I shouldn't wonder. You know she's never been less than twenty minutes late for anything."

Still pacing the room frustratedly, Toni snapped, "Well, can't we just start without her? You're here, I'm here, Gina's here - just about..." She glared at the brunette, who was hunched over a magazine. "Honestly, Gina, you think you're so fucking intellectual, don't you?"

"So long as I'm on a higher level than you," retorted Gina shortly, pushing her thick hair behind her shoulders.

"Well, that's great," Toni fumed, pausing to stare at herself in a mirror. "This is off to a really good start. One of us isn't even on time and you two are being a couple of bitches and I hate my life!" Picking up a pair of hair straighteners, she threw them into the corner and dropped angrily into a seat ( ... )

Does auth-anon mind if others get in on the writing? This has such potential as an AU... And I love the characterizations here

Since auth-anon who did the fill above apparently doesn't mind others joining in - second fill below. Takes place sometime after band breakdown, so shouldn't be in the way of other fills for earlier events /big hint that more other fills would be welcome.

Oh, and if anyone has an idea for a suitable band name, that would be great, because this anon doesn't, and that takes some writing around. For some reason, the nearest girl band parallel seems to be Sugababes (revolving line-up, epic in-fighting among founder members), but not really sure NuBabes works...

Warnings for: signs of serious disillusionment about NuLab policies and personalities.

Handbags At Dawn: Once More, With Book Launches

So it looks like there isn't going to be a band reunion after all, campers. Well, at least not with any of the original line-up, though at the moment it's not even clear if the new lot still want to use the existing band name or not. Try not to cry. After all, we've now almost got the full set of dirty laundry, and one day Alison may stop teasing and give us her full, real, unexpurgated diaries. Regrettably, Gina's book looks like it actually will be, as announced, a study of recent trends in the music industry, and lacking in such tasty(ish) gossip and score-settling as we've become used to from the other three, let alone the various bits of entourage cashing in on the interest while it lasts. Still, in case you should be strapped for cash, we thought we'd do a quick recap ( ... )

Digested read: They never would have made it without me, you know. Toni was our big selling-point, yeah, but she's so needy and everyone has to like her, all the time. I only joined the band in the first place cause she wouldn't stop begging. Bit of an airhead in some ways, too, and she really does my head in when she gets into that “Jesus wants me for a sunbeam” mood. You'd think she could at least keep her kit on, what with the god-bothering, but seriously, it's like her tits have a fear of the dark. Oh, and she was always borrowing other people's stuff without asking. I've got a couple of tops that'll never fit me again, thanks a lot. And there's being close, and then there's nicking someone else's tampons. Also, my French is better than hers, not like that's hard.

Petra? Well, Pet's a clever little bitch, and we've got this kind of love-hate thing going, but she's a bit of a liability, too. Epic strops. And social climber? Don't get me started. And all the fretting about the media making her out to be evil - I said to her, you ( ... )
