NuLab Girl Band AU anonymous November 27 2010, 23:10:52 UTC
Prompted by this (oldish) NuLab article by Mary Ann Sieghart:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/article454523.ece

"I once compared the men at the nexus of new Labour to a girl band: fiercely close but forever bitching at each other and threatening to split."

They worked as Gorillaz, but surely this one needs to be done, too? Girl band of auth-anon's choice.

I'm going to comment on every of them, because they're all so fucking awesome, you deserve it author!anon :D
Your Ali is so egotistical and so in love with herself, I love it. Totally epic.

Thanks, Ali. Moving swiftly on to Petra's The Brains Behind The Band

Digested read: I basically grew up with ThirdWay records, or RedLeft, as they were before I pretty much single-handedly rebranded them, got them a better logo, and convinced them not to sign only protest singers. Also, I talent-spotted Gina and Toni. And I was just a PR intern at the time, too. Not that anyone's grateful ( ... )

I bet Peter see his role at the beginning of NuLab exactly like that.

By the way, I could have that Georgina from NuBlu for breakfast anytime, if I wanted.
ha ha, loved that bit. We all know that, Pet -awesome nickname if you ask me-. Mandelborne is like universally consistent.

Not had enough yet? Well, there's always Toni's One Woman's Journey to Greatness

Digested read: I know Ali and Pet make out they made it all happen cause they're such PR geniuses and good at lyrics, blah blah, but they couldn't have done it without me! And yeah, Gina, who's a total genius, even if she's no good with people and never talks to me these days, it's amazing how petty she is! We used to be really close. I'd say to her, phwoar, if you were a bloke, I'd so have you, and she'd get all uptight, because she's got no emotional intelligence.

Then she got all sore cause I made a better lead singer. At least I can smile naturally, and people like me! Gina did come up with the chorus to “Crime”, but that was like her only good lyrical hook ever, and it was based off my ideas I talked to her about all through this long-distance flight. She was probably just trying to shut me up and go to sleep, come to think of it. And we never made a deal like she says, at least I don't remember it like that. Sometimes I'm not sure she's quite ( ... )

The name of the book is so awesome. And I love how you include little details such as the "animal instincts" or Tone wanting everyone to love her.

There, wasn't that heartwarming? By the way, the title of Gina's forthcoming book is now confirmed as The Music Industry In Changing Times: An Analysis, but we like to think the implied title is more on the lines of “You're So Vain, You Probably Thought This Book Would Be About You, But It So Isn't. Bitches.”

Predicted digested read, digested: I'm so much better than the other three, I don't even have to say it, and unlike them, I think about serious things ( ... )

ROFLMAO SRSLY OMG. Ali was perfect, especially this regarding Gina's posse: Girl-geek central, I'm telling you. Now me, I look sexy with reading glasses, but that's different.

And Toni's airhead tone and everything was just so spot-on, even if in a slightly disturbing way when discussing the war & whatnot.

And awww everything with Gina ♥

Aside to members of Yellowbirds: we'd rethink strategy on those NuBlu collaborations if we were you. Yeah, we know it's finally getting you out of the low end of the charts, but at the cost of much of your original fanbase thinking you've sold out, and NuBlu leeching off your cred and your profits both.
ololololol this is why I love the meme.

Still, may be worth a word to Allie-Jo about going off-key and ad libbing before things go G&T II on you.
ahahahaha the truth this is it. (Also G&T makes me think of the drink! Next time I order a Gin'n'Tonic I'll just be thinking of Tony & Gordon...)

Thanks so much for writing. <3

Oh, authoranon, this is beyond good. It's fucking awesome. I would comment on each one individually but a) I'm lolling too hard and b) it would take forever, as there are so many outrageously witty moments (and making-out references I wish were canon...). Also c) you weren't kidding about the disillusionment, were you?

Thank you so much for sharing this, it's hilarious & spot-on. <3

Rosettes/girlband AU. Warnings for: girl group in-fighting, femslashiness, implied rough sex, strong language from the outset.

“What are you doing?” Toni says, pulling back.

Petra shakes her head. “What do you think?”

“That was never the deal,” Toni says.

“So you really do say that to all the girls.”

“I wasn't... leading up to anything. It was just nice,” Toni says. “Why couldn't you just leave it at that?”

“Because was nice?” Petra suggests, trying to get back to a mellower feel. “Because it could feel even better, if you wanted ( ... )
