[It's been a long while since Mello fell asleep, and Matt's just laid there, unable to sleep; he just keeps going over what he remembers of his death in his mind, over and over and over, analyzing the entire thing - how it happened, how the prick could've gotten the drop on him. That's all that really bothers him, really, is that he was so easily

[He hears Matt's voice, but isn't awake enough to parse the words; he stirs sleepily for a moment before opening his eyes. Thank god, Matt's still here. Mello's nightmares haven't been terrible in some time, but his sleep's been more than unsettled. Right now, though, the vague memory of searching empty streets, the roar of flames crackling at the edge of his hearing, fades away as he lifts his head.]

[He's slightly stunned that Mello's waking up so suddenly like this; Matt hopes he didn't wake him up, and that his lover didn't hear what he'd just said. That's not a conversation he wants to have right now.]

You okay?

[down_to_nowhere]

I am now. [He kisses the corner of Matt's mouth.]

Did you sleep?

[logical_red]

Yeah. [A lie, of course, but like he's gonna let Mello even have the chance to feel pathetic.]
