Thank you to you all
Thank you to all of you who have sent messages on the death of my Mom. We had a wonderful funeral, beautiful music and great eulogy.
I know she would have been very happy with the way it went. -
Funeral Saturday
My Mom passed away in her sleep on 28 September after 14 long years suffering from Alzheimer. Her funeral is this Saturday and I am to deliver the Eulogy. My blog has further details including one of her favourite recipes.

What I've been up to in the last 12 months
Well it has been one year now since I retired from the Canadian Foreign Service after 33 years. I updated my profile today with a new map showing all the countries in red I visited around the world. Well 2012 was a year of change for me, I retired from the Canadian Foreign Service after 32 years. Got a nice letter from the Prime Minister and my Deputy Minister thanking me for all my years of service to the Country ( Read more... ) -
plans for my pensioner days
I have been plotting and looking around for things to do once retired. So I have approached my old Alma Mater, University of Ottawa, the oldest bilingual University in Canada (French-English). I actually followed my courses in both languages, you have to pass a language test to be admitted. My Faculty Social Sciences have a brand new 30 million $$ ( Read more... ) -
Moving on
Last August I mentioned how I was on leave from work, in the meantime I filled out the paperwork for my retirement, lots of forms and something that surprised me, the Pension people want also your birth certificate and your marriage cert if you are married and the birth certificate of your spouse. on retirement
Well on Thursday I went to see my doctor and told him that I could not stomach going back to work. I got physically sick in the morning just thinking about going into work. The stress and the pressure at work, the poisonous office politics, just became too much and crying at coffee break because I can't take it anymore is not the way to go. So I am ( Read more... ) -
only 88 work days to go
Well the papers have been signed and sent off to the pension centre. My last work day is 30 November. It feels like I am being released from jail. Was a long sentence 32 years.
Yeah for me!!!!! -
that date is coming up
Well tomorrow I am meeting my pay clerk and we will calculate the final results of my pension upon retirement. I have received the other papers for my formal departure from the service. I have to draft the letter of formal resignation from the service and send it off to the head of personnel. The end of the year is the date for tax purposes. I am ( Read more... )
