You'll never believe who I met-and totally by accident

I, along with a few women, decided to travel to England; basically to see John Barrowman in a Panto, Robin Hood. For those NOT from the UK, a Panto is generally ,and dare I say loosely, based on a fairy tale. Last year a few of us went to see him in Aladdin, and when we heard he was doing another one this year, we immediately booked tickets, this ( Read more... )

Would you believe it's the one Debbie wore (in the scene after the slap when she meets Brian on the street-she wore gloves but I've never found any to match). It was part of an auction for charity during the last QAFfans convention in Toronto in 2005. Sherrie Richey bought it and then gave it to me. And it is warm-it's lined with fleece. I LOVE that woman.

I feel very lucky to have met people all over the world due to QAF. It has been a god-send in more ways than one. First it was a source of knowledge of the world of being gay; I had no knowledge at all when my son came out to me 6 years ago. I have no one here at home to talk to, no one. So it has been the only avenue of communication for me as well. And the internet has been a saving grace. I'm a lucky girl.

I am going to be straight with you this is cooler then meeting Barrowman, or Gale or Randy or anyone really.

I admire his so much for being a brave wonderful writer that was willing to show the world a real view of gays. I think he is wonderfully talented and just wonderful. I love what he did with Dr. Who, and how that show again stepped up in so many different social issues.

I am so happy for you.

I'm happy for me too. Thanks. I honestly didn't know much about him other than hearing him on the confidentials. What was so weird is that we were watching the 2008 Christmas Special and the Confidential the night before. So when we heard him talking before we actually realized he was there-we looked at each other and said "That sounds like Russell T. Davies." He has done wonders and I totally agree with everything you said.

I know you meant fantastic-I read that first as fanatic. We were SOOOO lucky. If we had been out earlier (as Janet and Gabe were) or even half hour later, we would have missed him. And the young girl made him antsy-I think if we had not come up to him-he would have left right after her. He made some mention of how we could sit down with him now she was gone. She was really in his face; I think he was happy we weren't.
I wish you could have been there too. That picture was a lucky one-I am really not photogenic-REALLY!! My hair looked good for once and yes, it is a good picture of me. They are few and far between.

The Big Man Himself!

I thought he'd moved away from Cardiff back to Manchester???

He has a place in both cities. He even showed us where he lives while in Cardiff. His main house is in Manchester-what he lives in while in Cardiff is an apartment right on the bay. We have a shot of that too-but we didn't want him to think we were stalking him. He mentioned that many of the cast of all the related shows have apartments in the same building. If you watch the Confidential after the 2008 Christmas special-he is being interviewed in his apartment-you can see the bay out the window behind him.
