Crochet project 02: gray scarf

Nov 30, 2010 12:10

I added the fringe to my scarf today, officially completing the project. I chose the scarf colors to go with my reversible black / dark charcoal-colored winter coat. The project took me nearly 19 hours spread out over 6 days to complete. If you looked closely, you can see inconsistencies due to getting used to things-itis. I choose to think of the ( Read more... )

You've been getting me interested in crochet again. lol
I made my sister a simple headband last night (http://creativeyarn.blogspot.com/2008/05/simple-crochet-headband.html)

Your scarf looks great! I love the two colors - it looks really good - I didn't realize how much more I like a crocheted scarf if it's done lengthwise instead of by width.

What a lovely headband! I bookmarked the page for future use. Headbands don't work well with my hairstyle usually because they're too wide. But that slimmer design might look nice indeed. Did you take a pic of the one you made for your sister? If so, I'd love to see it. How long did it take you to make ( ... )

I also like https://www.ravelry.com/ for patterns, though I have to filter out the knitting since I can't do that (yet).

I have a picture of my sister wearing it but it was taken in my office with my cellphone so not the greatest quality. You can not see it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ladysaotome/5220715865/

Thanks for the pattern - I am definitely going to try it. I need a scarf - I am lacking in the scarf and hat dept!

Nice headband! I like the yarn colors too. Their variations look good in that design.

The first crochet pattern place I found was this one:
http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/index.php

I also signed up for free at Lion Brand yarn's site:
http://cache.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/patternFinder.fcgi?

I like the instructions that Lion Brand gives with their free patterns. The instructions all follow a set format making them easy to decifer. I found the pattern for my next project there.

I'll sign up to that Ravelry site when I get a chance. Sounds good! Thanks for the link.

I think it looks pretty good! I still have the first (and actually, only one so far) scarf that I knitted and you can tell which end I started first since one is so much neater than the other. XD

Thank you.. :)

That's definitely true for my scarf as well. I suppose when (if) I reach a point where the beginning is as good as the end, I can officially say that I'm good at crochet. But I expect it'll take a lot of practice before I reach that point.

Thanks, Sage. It doesn't look as good as the store ones when you look at it up close. But I'm glad that you thought so from a distance. (I *hope* strangers won't come up and ask to examine my scarf closely. That would wierd me out.)

Tiger better give up the scarf when I need it. Otherwise, Tiger may find himself banished from the den!
