Loki is a tired godling

I just watched Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and I loved it. Cute, creepy, funny, and a little bit psychotic - just the way I like 'em!

I'm giving a presentation for the Hillsdale Liberals this week, in which I get to rail against the Drug War. I'm geeked for that, though I'm totally unprepared. I'll have to do some research ( Read more... )

Yeah, from what I have seen, there are a number of opinionated people there with a lot of time on their hands. I enjoy it, though. Even getting flamed can be entertaining, so long as you don't embroil yourself too deeply or take things too personally. I'm glad she posted the article.

It was a nice piece. Hard to imagine why anyone could possibly take offense with it, even if they disagreed with it. And since reading the flamewars on SOLO represents a profound negative value for any time invested, I'll happily never know.

See? Ignorance can be bliss!
And it sounds like you at least know something about economics and opportunity cost, which Heidi takes to be so basic that it's hardly worth explaining. But a couple of the SOLO folks could use such a lesson.

There are some good posts there, but by and large SOLO is such a cesspool of immaturity and flamewars that the Objectivist movement could be well-served by hurling the site's servers into the Pacific.

beat down like a ten-dollar whore.

I was watching a documentary about prostitution yesterday; apparently the basic rate on the street is $20! And they just screw just crazy numbers of men in a day. So sad; it's all so ugly. Isn't it? Obviously zillions of people think it's just great. It really makes me wonder what it is to be human.

Yeah, it is sad. But what the market demands, the market provides...
$20, though? Ugh. That makes it even less worthwhile.

That being the part I'm having a problem with... never mind.

Um, yeah. I know. Me too.
Am I missing something? Did we have a disagreement that I wasn't clued in on? Or is this just my stupid antisocial Y-chromosome infused brain getting the better of me on a bad day?
Sorry, I'm sick.
