Thank you for these clarifications. They answer the concerns that I personally had with the system.

That flag is too close to the 'Track This" flag and I suspect that it will be hit in error quite a bit since we are not used to this being there. What can one do to reverse this if it is done?

Try clicking on it. It takes you to a separate page where you then have to choose a ticky box and hit send. If you accidentally click it, just hit back on your browser and there's no harm done. There's more involved to flagging an entry than just hitting the flag icon.

This doesn't seem to be right, because you've made "collapse" the default. As well as activating "safe search" by default.

That annoyed me too, I had to go in and change my settings. I bet a lot of people didn't realize those were set automatically, because they never announced it. Nice job being transparent, LJ.

Don't you know? LJ are MASTERS OF STEALTH.

Actually, scratch that. They did mention that searches would be filtered by default in the previous entry.

But that implies that all users 18+ don't want to see (or shouldn't be allowed to see) adult content, which is ridiculous. I don't want LJ's puritan morals being forced upon me. I'm 21 years old, damn it! >.>

These are vital clarifications, and I find it difficult to believe that LJ/6A didn't think of these before the feature went live, and that you folks didn't include this in the original release post ( ... )

They did mention it in yesterday's news post at http://news.livejournal.com/104319.html. (See the "New Settings & Flagging Tools" section.)

They were sneaky though. The news post links to the main lj_biz page, but not to the specific entry. So in the future, people won't be able to find the specific entry about flagging. They wanted it to look like they were being open and transparent, but they really weren't. I think they think we won't notice these things or something. o.O

Oh, I didn't even think of that; I only thought as far as that the relevant entry would be the top one in lj_biz, so it wouldn't be hard for the people who came from the news post to find. But I agree that linking to the specific lj_biz entry is a good idea!

(Although, I think that mezi99360 makes a good point below - if someone cares about these things, it's probably a good idea for them to start watching lj_biz directly!)
