Nov 30, 2007 17:15

We've been reading your comments and want to talk about some of the questions that have come up the most often. These are just the top things that we want to clarify and we'll update in more detail again next week if there's more that needs to be addressed ( Read more... )

These are vital clarifications, and I find it difficult to believe that LJ/6A didn't think of these before the feature went live, and that you folks didn't include this in the original release post ( ... )

They did mention it in yesterday's news post at http://news.livejournal.com/104319.html. (See the "New Settings & Flagging Tools" section.)

They were sneaky though. The news post links to the main lj_biz page, but not to the specific entry. So in the future, people won't be able to find the specific entry about flagging. They wanted it to look like they were being open and transparent, but they really weren't. I think they think we won't notice these things or something. o.O

Oh, I didn't even think of that; I only thought as far as that the relevant entry would be the top one in lj_biz, so it wouldn't be hard for the people who came from the news post to find. But I agree that linking to the specific lj_biz entry is a good idea!

(Although, I think that mezi99360 makes a good point below - if someone cares about these things, it's probably a good idea for them to start watching lj_biz directly!)

Actually, their best bet would be to watch the_lj_herald--I'm still not sure what comm I should have been watching to find out about the 1000-tags limit.

lj_releases is where that announcement was made. Again, something that should have been reported in news as it affects every single user.

Well, technically, it only affects people who use a lot of tags... :-p

Yeah, I should have said it could possibly affect every single user. *g*

Yeah, I'm not sure I watch that one, at least not regularly.

Too many LJ comms, and too scattershot an approach to disseminating information. Oy.

I think lj_releases was where the tags thing was announced.

Ah, one of the ones I don't monitor too closely. *sigh* Of course.

There's a limit on tags?
Not that I have close to that many, but damn.

Is it so hard to make the same announcement to multiple official comms, to reach as wide a user base as possible?

You can have a 1000 different tags for your journal, and then there's no limit to how many times you apply those tags--yet.

Watch the_lj_herald, so you don't have to read all the official comms. It's a great service.

My pleasure.

It's not an official comm, mind you, but it is very useful for keeping track of the several official comms that LJ/6A seem to expect we should.
