Yay! I finally finished programming the soundtrack so it shows up exactly the way I want it to, complete with art.

Due to the size of the full post, however, LiveJournal keeps giving me "post is too large" warnings. I have to break this whole thing up into 5 posts.  Apologies in advance.

This is a soundtrack of songs about New England or artists from ( Read more... )

Take your time. These'll be around at least 30 days.

Excellent.

One suggestion--Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains of Brattleboro. They're breaking up, but their myspace page should have mp3s to download...

I like unpolished, grumpy alcoholics.

When I saw the subject, I thought this was going to be about Billy Bragg (really! "New England" is a beautiful song).

But this was really interesting - very eclectic. Looking forward to part 2!

*loves on Billy Bragg*

Nope. No Billy. I adore Billy, actually, even if there are some songs where I'm all, "Hunh? What did he say?"

I took Averi, because I haven't heard them, and "Fast Car," because it's an old favorite that I'm pleased to have an mp3 of. Thank you!

You're welcome. :-)

"Fast Car" remains a sentimental favorite of mine. I'm only sad that I don't have "Talkin' About a Revolution" in my collection.

Wicked. :)

I'm interested to see what else you put on your lists. I grew up in north central CT (go BoSox!) and went to college (mostly) in New Hampshire... don't think I ever heard that term "swamp Yankees" listed in the article. My college was located about 20 min. south of Lake Sunapee, and apparently, back in the days when Aerosmith was grinding out the gigs and trying to make it big, they used to play on campus. Imagine that... heh. :)

Just a warning. The list is by no means complete for artists (hilleviw pointed out a few I missed (actually, I know there's a lot I've missed).

And, heee! "Swamp Yankees." According to my Connecticut relatives, them's fightin' words.
