I really hope LJ decides to let me comment this time.

I love this story so much and as an avid comic book reader, this makes everything better :)

I've been having a terrible time replying to commentary so here's hoping LJ doesn't have another fit.

I was hoping someone would say they were into comics! Admittedly, I'm not a full out fan, but we studied the history/art of comics in my university English course, so I picked up a thing or two.

*If you're at all into Marvel's Golden Age, then it'd be cool to take note of the fact that original Superman was a lot more aggressive than the 'goody-goody' Superman you get into the later ages...says something about Zack's character ;)

wow oh wow. for starters, can i just say that the flow of this story is fantastic, and your writing definitely supports it. obviously as an author you're going to be endlessly paranoid with what works and what doesn't, but i, as well as many others, can easily say that you're making the best decisions. this whole story is so intriguing, and i love that alex is really opening up once and for all. and i'm not sure if i've mentioned this before (which i most probably have) but i really, really love Gabe's character. he's just so funny and quirky.
you are amazing!

Oh wow, thank you for saying that :) I do sometimes...obsess over this story; I constantly feel the need to justify why I write a certain scene.

Alex will eventually open up...in baby steps. I love Gabe's character, he's like my stress reliever :)

So it turns out, that because I enjoy this fic so much, I tend to wait a few updates and then read them all one go to get caught up, because then I find it easier to really immerse myself into the story.

So I'm all caught up again, and oh my God, uhygtfvghj Jack's planning is impeccable, and it's really quite amazing how he can predict everyone's reactions (like with the fight with Zack and Rian) you just write this so well, and the plot has so much depth to it, and it's seriously amazing, the way you've planned the whole story really is admiring.

I love how the plot is thickening, and I'm really psyched to see how it's all going to play out, since Jack's got Alex right where he wants him.

In all honesty, its probably best to read this story by 'chapter' instead of 'parts.' I have a certain aim with each chapter, I just post in parts for the sake of updating and for those like myself, who like to register things in small doses, aha.

Jack definitely has an affinity for people reading, it's all based on this theory of what exactly a 'genius' vs. a 'child prodigy' is. This story is actually separated into three plots that coincide with one another based on the typical model plot of a story...so sometimes planning makes me want to tear my hair out.

Ahaha, Jack always wants to be in control ;)

I love Zack's level headedness at the beginning of the chapter. He seems to be the most 'in-tune' with his emotions and more importantly he still knows how to read the other two. Thus I am assuming whatever happened in the past didn't directly affect Merrick as much as it did Gaskarth and Dawson. As it is those two who are at each others throats... almost constantly, because they have hidden away their true feelings behind anger and anxiety.

Oh my! the whole revelation of Gabe losing the bet was just fucking awesome :D They have such a bromance going on. I love it. I knew Jack wouldn't have let him win. He always wins. It was just perfectly written and you knew Jack had something up his sleeve to revel later on in the chapter. Just the way it unfolded in the 'Scene' was perfection.

"Saporta nods slowly, a flicker of recognition passing him. “Encantado, pleasure to meet you.”"I also assume there is more to that than first meets the eye. Hence Gabe's quietness. Does Gabe know Alex... does he know the bands past... Am I getting warm ( ... )

the length of this response is down right embarassing. live_by_lyrics August 1 2011, 02:26:01 UTC
I thought it’d be nice to develop Zack a little more, since I was beginning to feel that his niceness could be dismissed as a flat characterization. He genuinely does care about Rian/Alex, but I’d have to say that what happened to ‘the four of them’ affected him as well, he just happens to deal with things in a different way. (*Zack was one of the characters I classified as a ‘superhero’ though we must take note of the fact that in Golden Age of Marvel comics, Superman was much more violent and less ‘moral’ than the Superman you hear of today ( ... )

Hmm. I know what you mean. Zack is always portrayed as the nice guy/good guy in stories. I suppose that’s because not much is really known about Zack’s personality, as he is so quiet on stage and during interviews. Ah, right okay. So Zack is a better-adjusted individual compared to Alex and Rian, more like Valentino. Of course Superman just isn’t the aesthetical super-strength which Zack portrays ( ... )

I wish people would develop Zack more in stories, but yes, his lack of words makes it hard. It brings back that whole 'Zack's a douche bag, no Zack's just shy' debate. I personally don't think he's actually shy, but rather indifferent to the frivolous/invasive aspects of the whole 'fame' deal. But at the same time he embraces it, with the whole Americkan brand? He's almost like this healthy medium, so I guess I thought he'd be a nice mediator between Rian and Alex's characters. But yes, he's not all 'Mr. Nice Guy', seeing as we saw some of the Rian/Zack drama in the backroom ( ... )
