They all do this...it is normal. rev_mom December 24 2006, 22:22:40 UTC
She is testing your limits and it is more important than ever to be consistent and do exactly what you say the consequences will be for misbehavior, no matter how tired you are. This will exhaust you but she will learn you mean what you say. can't tell you how important this is, even in the little things.

Have you tried crying...I mean sobbing, so she knows how much this hurts you?

and then, there is the crossing your arms and turning away and ignoring (basic dog training trick that works on kids). They want attention and even negative attention IS attention.

Things go much better when you cooperate with mom....

Don't give her anything for Christmas.

Seriously. Nothing.

When I was about 4, I drew on the walls all the time, and my mom threatened to take my crayons away for a whole year if I drew on the walls one more time. And I did. And she did.

A year later I got crayons again, and believe me I never drew on the walls again.

Getting your crayons taken away is a bit different than getting no presents for Christmas at all, though...

I've always disliked the "Santa Mythos" because the "only good kids get presents" bit is misleading, as most kids get presents regardless of behavior ( ... )
