I've been thinking about how rich the Gospel is and how God's love not only transforms our own hearts, but connects us to community. That is to say, this transformation ought to direct us toward others, not just simply toward God. -

I had an amazing response to this book I am reading the other night. David G. Benner writes, "Genuine transformation requires vulnerability. It is not the fact of being loved unconditionally that is life-changing. It is the risky experience of allowing myself to be loved unconditionally." It's not okay
I'm thoroughly convinced that my mother is bipolar. It wouldn't be such an exaggeration, especially since her sister has it. I'm just so frustrated and discouraged by the boundaries she increasingly has been crossing lately, and I'm afraid to say that it's gotten to a point where I need to consider moving out on my own. -

Went to see my friends, Arian Franz and Ben White, play at Clancy's tonight. During one of their songs and for a short moment I was really really happy. just some thoughts for my sad puzzlebox
i wish i could just wrap my arms around the city of long beach. i saw what appeared to be a homeless man sitting on the sidewalk, and said hello to him as i walked by. he started to laugh at me. it was a familiar laugh. i just wish things weren't so fucked up in the world. sometimes, especially tonight, i am just tired of seeing pain and feeling ( Read more... ) -

the past week or so has been wonderful. started out with a lazy day on the couch watching a documentary on andy warhol and his factory people. i never really got into andy warhol or knew much about edie sedgwick or the way they were involved with nico and the velvet underground. i found myself pretty inspired. not sure why exactly. just inspired. Today I attended a California Dietetic Association conference for Orange District RDs and students. I found it to be so inspirational, especially to see some former students, from just a few years ago, who are actually working registered dietitians now.
