Caning Bruises on a Healthy Young Man

I feel like this question HAS to have been asked before, but I went through the education tags, as well as Victorian era tags looking to see if anyone has asked anything similar and didn't find anything helpful...

Question under cut because it could be potentially triggering )

Oooh, and an addition - there were just some very heavy discipline videos posted in the group the-gloryhole here on lj (on May 29th), where older men beat younger men. They are very no-fun and tough, but would give you a great insight into how male-male discipline might look like :)

This userpic is from well in excess of 60 strokes, probably approaching the 100 mark, mostly with a senior cane. Some placed by a not overly experienced with a cane Domme. Most though done by someone very experienced. I was well and truly off into subspace by the end.

When a caning is done as a punishment, humiliation is the greater bite than the cane itself. Some of the humiliation comes from the knowledge that one put oneself in the postition of requiring a punishment caning.

10mm diameter? That's gonna hurt like hell. Fifteen hits could, I think, easily break the skin, especially if you're caning on bare skin, and the very least leave some nasty bruises and weals behind.

I take well in excess of 15 strokes without skin breakage. This is using a senior cane. With a junior cane the blows sting a lot more overall are less painful.

Bruising really depends on the individual some of us bruise more easily than others. Especially when people are on medication like, for example, anti-inflammatories and blood thinners.

I don't know the level of your play, obviously, but with this guy going all out? I mean, caning for BDSM-punishment and caning for old-style-boys'-school-punishment are fairly different things. Also, I'm...guessing that you've been caned more than once, and that your skin has had some time to build up to it. Not sure what this boy's situation would be.

I don't know the exact type of cane used, but Roald Dahl's childhood autobiography 'Boy,' has several very graphic descriptions of being canned from first hand experience. If the person doing the canning was both serious about causing pain and quite experienced they would be trying (and often succeeding) to make the victim bleed.

I will have to go look that up, then. That could be very useful. Thank you!

I think Wikipedia said that schools in the US that still practice corporal punishment use senior canes (like the one I described) or the smaller junior canes which are 8 mm in diameter, so I think that could very much be what I'm looking for here.

So i am not in the lifestyle but I have a good friend that is, and after reading 50 shades she recommended a website that's a community for people who are, for educational purposes. (because everyone's definition of kink is very different.) you might be able to find some information there, you need to create a profile but like lj it's free. Again I can say I've only been on there to do some reading because I wanted to know how accurate the book was and try to wrap my head around why my friend is in this lifestyle... But I digress. Try www.fetlife.com I haven't encountered any weirdoes or anything and every seems very nice (granted I'm sure there are crazy people on there too just like lj) but i know they have a whole group dedicated to caning so you might be able to get some more in depth information there. Hope this helps.

Good point: Fetlife is an excellent resource for information on kink. Be careful, however, how you pose questions as an 'outsider' -- there have been enough people trying to mine the site for information for 'academic studies' that a lot of users are now wary.

I'm sure you're right; I personally have not encountered anyone not willing to answer questions. But then again I haven't gone into the forms, I have stayed with talking to my friend's friends list.

Fetlife is an odd place and I do have an account over there (as a practicing Domme), but I wouldn't use it to ask academic questions since, like lolmac said, it's a very insular community and doesn't respond well to being asked those kinds of questions, even when it's one of their own doing the asking. At least with little-details, I know the practitioners here are ready and willing to answer questions, instead of just having those questions shoved on them by an outsider.

I'll check out the caning group though. Even though those kinds of groups are mostly the same TMI stories I've been finding on other BDSM websites (researching this has reminded me why I stick to fire play), they might have some useful information.
