It's the Sunday morning after, and baby, who the hell are you?

Jan 30, 2010 11:01

So, in my grand adventures yesterday (a few errands that would normally have taken an hour to run that ended up requiring ALL DAY to accomplish due to Translink dependency), I had to stop by the bookstore in order to clear a couple things up with my manager. She was out for a bit, so I had time to kill.

An X-Men manga entitled “X-Men: Misfits” was ( Read more... )

incoherent ramble ahoy, x-men, reading, this is not toward, you're doing it wrong dammit, my brain -- have you seen it?

I feel your pain. It is too horrid for words, the things they do to the poor characters. Thank heavens Remy had the slightest cameo.

BTW, is rewatch evo over already? Cause it's just Sat. morning over here...

I think the most ridiculous part is that any character who is at all interesting gets beaten up, maimed, villainized by the wannabe-Hellfire-Club, or just a short cameo. I think the only good that could come of this is some weeaboo girls read this, pick up some real X-Comics, and find out what the characters are supposed to be like and realize how awesome the X-Men are.

Those of us who have already had our Saturday mornings are talking over there right now, actually. Conversation is supposed to go on all week. Watch! Join in the conversation!

*revives you, as you're clearly just mostly dead*

INORITE? I was just blown away at what they did to the characters, not only story-wise, but visually. Warren is a Greek God complete with wings and angel feathers falling like cherry blossom petals around him. Longshot is a super-tanned surfer boy sterotype, Forge is somehow tech-geek-chic (HE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE FORGE, DAMMIT), and I could go on, but I'd end up keeling over like you.

...............................

And that was the sound of Amber's brain snapping in half folks!

OMG. Why? Why would anyone do this? This is worse then kicking puppies! And yet, I can't look away. Just - FLOWERS POPPING UP EVERYWHERE! TOO MANY SPARKLES! SCOTT LOOKS UGLY!

Excuse me while I curl up into a little ball and cry a little.

Also - BOBBY? Our Bobby is the cool, calm, mysterious one? What kind of wacky alternate universe is this???

I've realized what this is. This is Ouran High Host Club, but written by Stephanie Meyer. This explains EVERYTHING. The sparkles, the puppy-kicking, Edward Pyro, and the crappy-craptastic-love-triangle-of-crap!

PROBLEM SOLVED. Though not really. The thing still exists.

(You haven't even seen Beast yet. He looks like a walking teddy bear. Magneto looks like he stepped straight out of a Final Fantasy game, and THE GUYS ARE PRETTIER THAN THE FEMALE LEAD. I'm positing here that this is a bad idea.)

You're going to give me nightmares, Percy. Nightmares. There isn't supposed to be something worse then Twilight out there. There just isn't! (Although, it could be the universe attempting to balance the awesome that is Chuck. Then I could understand).

And yet, somehow nobody seems to get this. What girl would want to date a guy prettier than she is? That just leads to a whole bunch of self-esteem issues, especially when both guys and girls check out him instead of you. It is also very bad when they look better in your clothes.

I can hear Pyro weeping from here.

I want to click on the pictures, but it's 1:30 in the morning and I really really really shouldn't. Especially since I had a nie steaming cup of rage this morning because of what someone wrote on facebook.

Every. Single. Incarnation. They're all weeping.
(Movieverse!Pyro, in my head, is tracking down copies and burning every last one of them.)

Yeeeeeeeeeah. Not a good time to examine the evidence, as it were, at that time in the morning and in those circumstances.

Facebook sucks that way. Even though peoples' names are attached to whatever they say, they still seem to be under this impression that it's anonymous. Thus, you get dumbasses who write dumbass things. I hope the situation has cleared up by this point.

Yuck.

I like manga/anime (usually). I like X-Men (or what I know of it). This? Do Not Want. At all. Why would you inflict that on yourself? Sure it's pretty shallow, but there has to be some other redeeming value. What a bizarre AU.

I used to be pretty into the whole manga/anime culture -- did a bit of shojo, some josei, hit up a couple cons, and still love me some Escaflowne. I drifted away from it a while ago, though I'm still the 'expert' in that section at my bookstore.

However, this? This was an abomination unto japanese animation and art, never mind the X-Men name. I was dissapointed in Marvel. I tried to find redeeming value, I really did (at least there's other females in the next volume, apparently?), but really? This entry is all I got.

How tragic. It does have an actual plot, though? Even if it's weak? I mean, I assume it does but I'm not really understanding what it could possibly be. Other than the standard mutant/human conflict, present in pretty much every incarnation. Which kind-of negates the 'plot' part (at least by itself it does), in a sense.

By the by, I'm more than familiar with Kaori Yuki, but what series/title did Matsuri Hino do? Also, I'm looking for something to read that won't devour my life so any suggestions are welcome.

I have to agree. It really isn't Hellfire without the girls, y'know? Emma, Tessa, Selene

Like I said, pretty much what I described is all that happens. The plot is not strong with this one indeed ( ... )
