So, in my grand adventures yesterday (a few errands that would normally have taken an hour to run that ended up requiring ALL DAY to accomplish due to Translink dependency), I had to stop by the bookstore in order to clear a couple things up with my manager. She was out for a bit, so I had time to kill.

An X-Men manga entitled “X-Men: Misfits” was ( Read more... )

:: twitches and weeps a little :: Why does this exist?!? I have, admittably, read some magical girl shojo in my time, but this... this is an abomination on the universe. (worse, even than POWER PACHYDERMS )

Also...

:: is afraid to ask ::

So... uhhh... which one is supposed to be Quicksilver in that first picture?

Sweetie, don't worry. I think we ALL did the magical girl shojo bit. I remember watching a lot of Sailor Moon as a girl, and I was fairly into the culture. I drifted away from it, but I'm still fairly aware of what's going on in it. This sort of thing makes good mangakas (*cough* Kaori Yuki *cough* Matsuri Hino *cough*) cry.

Quicksilver, I think is the one with the long hair and the dress thingie on the hangar. Though they all look quite similar, so it's hard to tell. :)

I WOULD READ POWER PACHYDERMS. I AM JUST GOING TO SAY.

This sounds completely horrifying... o.o
Comics Alliance posted The Seven Most Amazingly Shojo Moments In "X-Men: Misfits". It is utterly ridiculous and looking at the pictures makes me die a little inside. e.e

Yep. It was.

And that Comics Alliance post pretty much sums it all up incredibly well. You've seen those pictures, you've pretty much read the damn thing...which, really, is kind of sad. A manga adaptation of the X-Men could work really well, but I think by fluffying it up like this, and deciding they were going to go with an over-the-top shojo feel, they ruined a decent premise.
