Can I just bitch about doctors for a second? Does anyone know why the hell the little nurses ask you a bunch of questions, like if you're allergic to any medications, if the doctor is just going to come in 5 minutes later and ask the EXACT same things? I mean, the nurse put my answers into my file, is the following doctor illiterate? Why can she ( Read more... )

Oh shit baby, I'm so sorry. ♥

If you had the surgery would that guarantee that it'd go away for good?

I'm suffering from an annoying as hell kidney infection atm. I went to the doctor and basically asked this question. This is what I was told:

People can be stupid. It's more of a double check thing. 50% of the time people who DO have allergies to medication don't list all of them or may forget some when giving it the first time. It's like taking a flight. You know the door is locked, but you gotta double check anyway.

It can be annoying though. As for the other shit, your doctor is probably just lazy or whatever. I understand asking about the medication, but the other stuff should be listed. Unless he or she is seeing a lot of patients that day or whatever.

lol because who knows your medical history better than you? They probably see tons of people each week and to make sure you're properly taken care of it's always best to ask.

The way I see it by the time they went over your medical history in your chart that's another 15-20 mins of wait time. I prefer to just tell my doctor so I can emphasize on the parts of my medical history that are relevant to my current situation rather than them wasting time on parts that arent.

You ok? Doctors suck. I would honestly rather go to the dentist.

THIS. I hate this. It's so stupid. In fact, I have a long list of things I hate about the doctor's. I mean, I get they do their job and they even save lives, but really? MUST YOU BE SO ANNOYING AND HAVE SUCH INEFFECTIVE WAYS? Gosh.

Are you sure the person taking your history is a nurse and not a student? Because at my clinic, it's almost always a student, so I figure they're doing it twice because the student needs to practice.

I don't know, they could be, but this happens just about anywhere i go for as long as i remember, i just finally got annoyed enough to bitch about it lol

I don't have a family doctor, so I always go to the clinic, and they're VERY BIG on students there. I had a student doing my pap smear - that was 28343 kinds of no fun. :(

That's what happened to me the other day. He had the student take my history and examine me and then the doctor came in and did both again. He ended up asking me things and checking for things the student didnt think to do.

Uck! I'm so sorry about that. It's really embarrassing during the yearly GYN visits when you have to tell everyone twice that no, I'm not sexually active nor do I have a boyfriend... seriously, I don't.

I hope you feel better soon.
