I *TOTALLY* understand where you're coming from. I piss off everyone around me because I correct their grammar and spelling and lol just the other day Tasha asked me to look over her resumé for grammar/spelling errors.

eta: also. this is kind of on the same topic and I just have to bring it up. I was in the computer lab today catching up on work - aka, reading a book I was supposed to, The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn. I've heard it was bad English and such, but it wasn't too bad and I got over it. Then I got to page 58-62. I know it's a classic and all, but oh my fucking god, I was headdesking in the lab and I wanted to cry.

I LOVE The Yellow Wallpaper, I read it two years ago for an American LIt subject and it's one of the stories that freaked me out the most (alongside with the Minister's Black Veil).

It's about a young man, a minister. He is ok at what he does, people like him and he is often invited in their homes. One day, for no apparent reason, he decides to cover his face with a black veil. The people in church laugh, wonder what's gotten into him, but then they start to freak out.

If you think about it, it sounds really stupid, because it's a grown man wearing a veil (normally something a woman would wear). But when the first minutes pass and he's not taking it off you start to wonder wtf is going on. You can't see his facial expression. You can't see his eyes. And the creepiest thing is that he NEVER takes it off (not even in his deathbed). You wonder what is he hiding, fear, insecurity, guilt... And why would someone do that?

It's a really short story and it's good to read it all in one seating. It's all about what people think, what they feel when in his presence and how he starts to be a very respected man and very well known but at the same time how they refuse his
company. Idk it just kills me.

I seriously wonder about that contradiction... Did he actually criticize you for pointing out others' grammar errors or was that "just" other students' complaints about you? Maybe this is his way of telling the others that grammar is in fact important without addressing any of them directly? I don't know... that whole comment doesn't really make sense otherwise.

no no, HE actually told me that I shouldn't critique other people's grammar in this class because it's not a technical writing class, it's a literature class. and then he comes and tells me and everyone else that it all matters.
