If you think that the movie was that amazing and insightful you should read the book because there is so much more depth to the story.

While you sound really annoyed and worked up over this i completely see where you are coming from, I have the exact same problem. Everything that we learned in the HSC is being disregarded, and I spent my entire HSC year listening to the teachers tell us that they were "preparing us for uni".

Hey Georgina, while I think it is great that this unit of literature has reinvigerated your love for literature as it has mine. Wow the imagery woven into this is absolutely beautiful Melo. I also disagree with Alan, it would be pretty bleak if everyone thought of marriage as a 'type of bondage'. Marriage is more like a type of new life, not in the form of a child but in the form of love.
