Being Taken Care Of

Feb 28, 2012 00:27

I've been having a mildly unusual time of getting taken care of by a lot of people. A good number of them are from our church, and the biggest flood of that was on Sunday, where everyone offered us a hug, condolences, and a few moments of thoughtful conversations. It was amazing how much support we got on that day ( Read more... )

That bowl is lovely.

And I know that wasn't what you meant, but you ought to do something with the idea of a flower arraignment. It sounds tremendously interesting. :)

(hugs again) Take care of yourself, and the same to Jet and John. I'm thinking of you.

Oh, yes, the idea of flower arranging really does sound interesting, given everything else that I've been doing with flowers.

Thank you very much, I will try and do the best I can. I will also forward the good wishes to my boys. (Hugs warmly)

Sorry I haven't been around much, but you and your family have been in my thoughts.

That bowl is absolutely gorgeous. Those soft blues...

I really appreciate the thoughts, and utterly understand why you're busy enough not to be here a lot. *laughs* I've done that a lot.

*beams* Happy the bowl works for you.

Even though I'm sure you would be OK with cooking, it is good to remind ourselves to be able to accept others' care.

And it's also, ironically, often a benefit to *them* as well, having something tangible to do to help.

Yes, so very very true. I am rather enjoying the comments and support here for some of those very same reasons.

sometimes, it's good just to let the community take care of you - it's part of the arrangement of living as part of a community of people. sometimes you give to the community, and sometimes, the community gives to you. both are important parts of the equation.

Yes.

It is good, both ways around, I think... (hugs)

I'm so glad you're letting people help out! I know for me, I hate that helpless feeling when a friend's loved one passes away, and it makes ME feel better to bring them food or do something I think might make their difficult time a little easier!

And you answered my question in this post about the Empty Bowl program - your bowl is gorgeous, I'm sure whoever gets it will be quite pleased!
