Yes, the title sounds cheesy, but this is actually nice to play with. Bodo Wartke (warning: site may play a welcome song, which includes a spelled-out URL) is a German comedian of the "classical" type who plays the piano, sings, and does all kinds of additional things (such as a full-length theater version of King Oedipus in which he plays fourteen ( Read more... )

The Klingon's obviously gibberish, but that's only to be expected, I guess! FWIW, I'd put it something like this (trying to preserve the rhyme - the meter's all over the shop, obviously):

bangwI', SoHvaD mu'meyvam'e' vIja'meH, (My love, in order that I say these words to you,)
Hoch Hol vIjatlh 'ej Hoch QoQ jan vIchu' vIneH, (I want to speak every language and play every musical instrument,)
teHbej mu', HIHarchu', qamuSHa'qu'. (The words are most certainly true, believe me completely, I very much love you.)

Best would be a rhyme scheme like:

.........................a
..................a ....a
....b
...............b

The {HIHarchu', qamuSHa'qu'} fits the last two pretty well, but it would be best if the second line ended with a double rhyme. (You'll note that the English version is not as good in this regard as some of the other languages, e.g. the German "...für dich singen // ... zum Erklingen bringen" or the Turkish "...yazacağım // ... çalacağım, yarim ( ... )

I just looked for something else and found this old post from a time when I had not been a member yet. I had no idea you were a Bodo Wartke fan as well! I totally love him. I have been to many concerts and also saw Ödipus live. The most recent concert we have been to was the one with the orchestra, a totally different but also awesome version of his songs. Highly recommended!

The Russian version gets the whole room of people singing along in Dresden as well ;) And we always demand the Sächsisch version.
