OLPC XO laptops available to developed world
OLPC is making their XO low-powered child-friendly laptops available to the developed world via a "give one, get one" plan. These laptops are a pretty cool idea, and while making sure the people of the world have adequate access to food, clean water, and good health care may be more important, I do think that making sure the people in less- ( Read more... ) -
Of bikes and computers
I went for a bike ride for the first time in years last night. My thighs were a little bit sore for a few minutes after, and right now my butt is sore from the seat, but all in all it went better than I'd hoped. I'm less certain than ever about what the problem is with my computer. I ran memtest86 again before going to bed last night, and got up this morning to see that it had completed seven passes without errors and was a good way through its eighth. I ran some SMART-monitoring tools today to have a look at the hard drive, and no errors were reported ( Read more... ) -
