OLPC XO laptops available to developed world

OLPC is making their XO low-powered child-friendly laptops available to the developed world via a "give one, get one" plan. These laptops are a pretty cool idea, and while making sure the people of the world have adequate access to food, clean water, and good health care may be more important, I do think that making sure the people in less- ( Read more... )

I don't remember them being called the "$200 laptop". :-/

To be fair, they're supposed to cost $100 to make, not necessarily to buy. 100% would still be a pretty high markup, but I like to think some processing fees go in there, and maybe general support for OLPC. Regardless, pretty cool... But unfortunately I think I'd have to choose an organization that takes care of more basic needs.

I suppose I should find one that meets my criteria, actually. Doesn't take too much out for operating costs and preferably is non-religious.
