Today, my friends, I had another lovely day at the
Pasadena City College Flea Market!
My Adventure at the Pasadena City College Flea Market
Although feeling vaguely under the weather this morning, I soldiered on, determined to at least do half of the show. With the azure blue sky filled with puffy clouds, I ventured into the slightly too hot day. All of the interesting people were out this morning, and I saw loads of colorful characters. Many of the dealers seemed in higher-than-normal spirits, and a few even recognized me from previous shows! Hey, what can I say? I love the PCC Flea Market! :)
There were loads of new dealers there today, especially jewelry ones. Many times was I tempted by the sparkly bracelets and necklaces strewn across the tables and crammed into display cabinets. Oh, for a disposable income!
Be a comer at the Game of Sex! (Sorry, my humor is ill today, too.)
Who wouldn't want an authentic James Bond beach towel?!
Loved this pretty little plate/decoration.
Date...ICE CREAM?! WANT! Loved everything on this table.
Nothing says class like a Hee Haw lunchbox!
This dealer in the parking garage always has the best signs, and he caught me taking a picture of the one above his head.
"Am I gonna be on TV or something?" he asked me with a twinkle.
I laughed. "I just love the signs you always put up."
"Hey, I like what I do!"
Indeed! His booth is always packed with shoppers!
Lately, I have become totally addicted to Candy O. I've always kind of liked The Cars, but have only recently discovered the haunting beauty of Benjamin Orr's voice. He's now up there with Brad Delp from Boston and Greg Lake as one of my favorite male singers of all time. The title track is eerie and amazing, and everyone's favorite, "Let's Go" (which is blasphemized in a new car commercial) is on this album as well. As a kid, I was head over heels for Ric Ocasek, but now that I realize Ben did most of the vocals, he now holds a place in my fangirl heart, too.

Everyone knows the iconic Vargas girl front cover pic, but I'd never actually flipped over the album to the back:
Oh Ben, may you still be singing with your angelic pipes somewhere up in the stratosphere.
Ayyyyy...it's a calendar! Yet another staple of any flea market I attend is Fonziephemera. This calendar had a centerfold of The Fonz. Too funny. Although Fonzie was one of my favorites, Ralph and Potsie also made this preteen blush. Sorry, Richie, you never did it for me.
The vinyl area on the lower floor of the parking garage area just keeps getting better. This is a rare-ish recording of material from the mid-70s, and is a riff on Pink Floyd's
Atom Heart Mother cover. Being a massive Floyd fan, I usually flip through their section murmuring, "Got it, got it, got three copies, got that," but this was new to me and really fun to see.
This delicious poster of a young Jon Voight from Midnight Cowboy literally stopped me in my tracks. With a gasp, then a sigh, I momentarily melted in front of the actor's loveliness. Since I have no spending money at present, I didn't dare ask how much it was. Blowing Jon a kiss, I went along my way. When I came back to bid him adieu, he was already gone. *sighs* That man was so pretty...politically unsound, but pretty.
A middle-aged man named Dick who enjoys dancing with children? He sounds harmless enough!
Ah, nudity, a welcome staple of the PCC Flea Market
This was another newer vendor who had really cool, rare-ish posters for sale. Besides this lovely Kate Bush mini-poster, he also had one of the cover of one of my favorite early Police albums, Outlandos D'Amour.
Trivia Time: Did you know that Kate Bush was discovered by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd and that he played guitar on her first album featured above? How cool is that?!
Oddly enough, two separate dealers were selling this strange pinball-ish game with ball bearings. Looks like fun if I could figure it out!
Hey, where's Elwood? XD
Frightening feline fecundity at its finest.
And now, we proudly present another scintillating episode of...
Dolls That May Come Alive in the Middle of the Night and Kill You
Never trust a hairy guy in a bathrobe carrying a large match.
Beware her deadly eyelashes!
"I'm going to...KILL YOU!!!" EEEEEEK!
And a funny one, to end on:
"Mommy, what's Santa doing to Mrs. Claus?"
Hope you enjoyed coming along for the ride!
