Today's Prayer

Last night I was trying to write a prayer/meditation for today's service. I had a hard time even getting started and then really didn't feel like I was getting anywhere good, even when I started writing. Perhaps, I thought, I had exhausted my inspiration in writing my speech about Theatre@First for the Women's Alliance meeting on Friday, or with ( Read more... )

I can see why you got such an outpouring of support. It's wonderful. Perhaps not what called to your spirit while writing it, but with many hook to which others could connect their hearts and thoughts, wherever they were this morning.

Thank you. That's one of the basic tenets, to make it specific enough to resonate, but leave it open enough for people to fill it with their own needs. Perhaps that's what really worked today--there's a lot of space in it for others, rather than it being filled with my own self. Thoughts to ponder.

I loved this thought:
As we exhale, let our shared breath be the wind that moves the world.

It's just an image...setting the sails on the right course...also the whole "a butterfly flaps its wings" thing.

That's really wonderful. Writing words of worship in a UU context can be kind of challenging, having done it a little myself.
