Why I recommend this piece: Sam eats and pomegranate and talks mythology with Gene. I absolutely love Gene's take on Persephone: “Well, wouldn’t be the first girl to run off with a bloke her old mum didn’t approve of.”
Gets to questions of belonging and difference in a brilliant, funny comparison that makes you want to revisit the show and tellings of the myth.

5 Times Words Fail Gene Hunt by nepthys_uk
Rating/Notes/Warnings: Brown Cortina
Why I recommend this piece: Absolutely gorgeous writing--"sensation ripples through him, thick and liquid like honey"--and fantastic Gene pov on the progression of their relationship. Also the only take I've seen of Gene finding out about and reacting to Sam's decision in the finale.

Why I recommend this piece: It's Sam/Gene fluff, from Chris' point of view. It makes you feel all kinds of warm and fluffy inside.

Why I recommend this piece: Because it is so many different kinds of heartwrenching cuteness in one fic! Sam, regressed to the mentality of a four-year-old! Gene taking care of him! This fic made me acknowledge to myself how much I adore h/c. Also, awkwardness for the rest of the team, lots of Gene cuddling Sam. Awwww!

Why I recommend this piece: It and it's prequel are perfect little gems of Sam/Gene psychology and attraction. I love the idea of Sam topping, and the author makes it feel so natural, so real, and so damn affectionate.

Why I recommend this piece: Written for the "Let's get gay married!" commentfic meme. Sam's remembering 2006, wishing he could marry Gene NOW -- and a bit annoyed that Gene's shrugging the question off. It's... adorableness in a jar. Just lovely.
