It is a very funny thing, trying to make introductions. You are determined to make a good impression, to put your best foot forward, without knowing a single thing about the other person, where they are coming from, or what they are thinking. So it's even more awkward, I'm finding, to say hello when it's very clear that more morose topics are ( Read more... )

These things come in phases (moroseness, as well as seasonal heat), it's surprising how often relative strangers here seem to be in-synch. But the phases (and summer) pass. Say hello then?

I will be awaiting the end of such phases. I'm just contemplating whether it's proper to send gourmet cookie basket condolences to strangers.

I would like to think that most of our mothers advised us against accepting baked goods from strangers.

I did see something about that, but I am afraid I wasn't entirely sure what a Chappy is. I have never been one to follow trends.

Ahh, I'm glad to hear that. I'm doing quite well, better than others it seems, so I've got not reason to complain... Awkward first impressions aside, I hope the same goes for you?
