It is a very funny thing, trying to make introductions. You are determined to make a good impression, to put your best foot forward, without knowing a single thing about the other person, where they are coming from, or what they are thinking. So it's even more awkward, I'm finding, to say hello when it's very clear that more morose topics are

Ahh, I'm glad to hear that. I'm doing quite well, better than others it seems, so I've got not reason to complain... Awkward first impressions aside, I hope the same goes for you?
