She paused, though, in case his question had been more serious than she'd thought. "It really will be fine, you know."

To be honest, the sniggers, questions and remarks about his appearance were becoming less hurtful with each passing year. Part of it was that he had Rapunzel, whom he knew loved him exactly as he was, but it was also mostly because his confidence in himself was growing.
Of course, it didn't hurt that his idea of what a detention should be composed of soon got around and the first years quickly learned to keep thier mouths shut unless they could be polite. Gustave considered his detentions to be a service to the Hogwarts community.
"And I'm not sure," he admitted in answer to her question about the snack trolley. "But I did pack a few things in case it was late. After all, you can never go amiss with extra provisions."

Rapunzel was excited to spend another year as the Professor of the Arts at Hogwarts. It was a wonderful subject, quickly accessible to students from all places and bloodlines. She still did her own paintings to sell in her free time, but teaching had come to take a very special place in her heart.
And the promise some of her students showed! Every piece of artwork was beautiful to her, but some could really make a career for themselves.
