And what will they do when the last straw falls and the camel breaks? Are we looking at a police state, or another 9-11? It's a depressing commentary when such worries cannot be dismissed out of hand.

So there's two special state elections coming up here (central Minnesota). The (Republican) governor set up the election for...December 27th. A day after a federal holiday. Did I mention St. Cloud is a big college town?
The state constitution says to run one has to have lived in the location for six months before the election date. One of the candidates didn't decide she lived in St. Cloud until the seat opened up; she even signed an affidavit in July saying that she lives in St. Paul. But her parents live in St. Cloud, so apparently she thought that was enough. The state Supreme Court knocked her off the ballot, so her mom is running as a write-in.
There are some classic quotes in the articles the St. Cloud Times has written."This election should be about the voters having a choice. ... This is Stearns County, Sherburne County, not the Soviet Union," state GOP Chairman Ron Carey told reporters after he attempted to

The compulsive need of the privileged in every respect in this country to bellieve themselves victimized and oppressed is fascinating... and infuriating.
