Good News!

When we first moved, we talked about pets. The management of the trailer park we moved into insists that cats and dogs are not allowed... no skin off my teeth with the dogs. I like them, but they're too noisy and WAY too much work. Mom had a major objection to cats. Dont ask me why, we've had many in our lives and she loved every one of them ( Read more... )

Pussies are great. Heh.

We have this cat. Her name is Mittens. Little black and white female..less than 10 lbs. Sweet, sassy, affectionate and loveable. I Often think she is/has been the best thing in my life...by far...for the past year or 2 (sad, isn't it?). She loooooves to sit on my lap/next to me. And will do so every evening, if allowed, on our couch or big oversized chair.

She is my sassy, little love-cat. And she loooves her daddy. :)

The irony is....I am allergic to her...although I have noticed a real improvement in my allergies to her, SINCE we got her.

So, I guess you could say, at least I get some pussy....just not always the kind i need. :D

I'm allergic to cats as well. In fact, I'm allergic to ALL animals. Everything except fish... even animals most people ARE NOT allergic to... like poodles.

I dont much care though. I love animals. I have enough allergies that I always have SOME sinus issues because of them, so adding an animal doesnt really make a huge difference. And prolongued and constant exposure to an animal you are allergic to WILL have a tendency to reduce your allergic reaction by building tolerance levels.

Yes, I have noticed and heard there is evidence that this is the case:

prolongued and constant exposure to an animal you are allergic to WILL have a tendency to reduce your allergic reaction by building tolerance levels

btw, I got your Yahoo IM request...and added you...and sent you YIM messages back.

Yes, but the very idea of my mother not only allowing a reptile in the house but allowing it to run loose is so laughable that if it ever actually happened I'd be certain that we had a case of the body snatchers.

Mom HATES reptiles with the same intensity that she hates spiders.

as a long time (allergic) cat possessor, I can tell you that if you get a cat you won't have mice. Granted, you already knew that. I'm commenting to add that you don't actually need to get a cat to get rid of the mice. Mice smell food like we well smell food, but from further away. Mice also smell danger, like cats. This may sound disgusting at first but were you to take the donation of a little used cat litter and make "cat urine scented "sachets" it would be just as effective at driving the mice away, and in fact your allergies would probably suffer less.

The next best solution I can make is to suggest that you "borrow" a cat. Better yet, advertise yourself as a "pet sitter for cats". This way you get paid while the cat makes your house ininhabitable to mice.
