My OTP is DB/? RPSex (don't want to leave any het stuff out, if such a thing exists. Oh, if it only did!). Seriously.

That said, my favorite Buffyverse pairings in relative order are: C/A, A/X, Faith/A, A/L, A/O, A/W, B/A. Honestly, I don't have one. My OTC is Angel. But for today I'll tell you what grooves me about C/A.

What's something you love about it? That they're both self-centered and saddled with destinies they never chose. (Visions/Vampire)

What's a reason you think these characters are good together? They clash, and that makes for interesting storylines. Plus, there's not much 'mopey Angel' love in canon, and I like that.

What would you say about it if you wanted to try to get someone interested in it? Think of it as a second marriage (after a tempestuous and doomed first love).

What's a scene in canon that occurs between these two characters you really like (if they met in canon)? The fight training scenes in Billy and Fredless are sexy and warm.

What's a fic you love that features it? Brand new, amazing fic by hannasus... )

C/A, A/X, Faith/A, A/L, A/O, A/W, B/A.

Now I want some good old down home A/X, A/L, and A/W. I think all three are impossible. Which is of course why I'd love to read someone manage them. Especially A/W. Wesley breaks my heart, always.

But for today I'll tell you what grooves me about C/A.

Yay, because seriously, I didn't groove with the ship on AtS, but whenever I read C/A fic by you, I kinda feel like I'm seeing the light.

That they're both self-centered and saddled with destinies they never chose. (Visions/Vampire)

That's a thing I love about B/A, too.

Plus, there's not much 'mopey Angel' love in canon, and I like that.

Are you saying when Angel loves Cordy he's mopey? *is confused*

Brand new, amazing fic by hannasus that features Cordy after her death called Undrowning. Exquisite. It's bloody brilliant. I told her it reminded me of "The Body," and it really, really does. I got all weepy-feeling over it ( ... )

Okay, look, I'm a B/Aer. I personally believe that Buffy will always love Angel, and that Angel will always love Buffy. But what I love about B/A so, so much is that Buffy loved Riley, too. She loved Spike, or was on the brink of it, too. Angel loved Cordelia. And they didn't necessarily love these other people in their lives less, or in a less lasting, less true way. What I love about B/A is that they still love each other just as much no matter who else they love just as much--or more.

But that's just my perception of B/A. I'm also aware that love can die or bank and that you can fall in love with someone else who you'll last with longer. I just wish more people were open to the idea of loving more than one person. I love the way you put it, too . . . Life as a smorgasbord ;o)

Oh, hell yes. It's no secret what my OTP is and will always be, and frankly, I don't like C/A. Well, C/A in canon. I still have a hard time reading it because of the way ME forced it down our throats in S3/4 *but* when I read lostakasha's fics, I can see it. However, ( ... )

when I read lostakasha's fics, I can see it.

Ditto. She makes me not only believe in C/A in the world of her fics . . . she makes me see the good points in the C/A canon we do have, and how the two characters I know could've fit together.

Of course, I believe that love wasn't as strong as B/A, but it was there.

I kind of agree, but only because I don't think B/S and C/A got a chance to develop. I think either of those two ships could've had a love just as strong (albeit different) as B/A . . . But Cordy died too soon, and the writers just kinda petered out as far as B/S. They didn't know how to do what they wanted in S7, and they wanted Spike on AtS and so severed the ship weirdly. I wish Spike and Buffy had gotten more closure than they did.

Generally, something guaranteed to make me stop reading a fic is ignoring the past relationships and belitting what they meant to both Buffy and Angel. Ditto again. Imo, belittling their past relationships is belittling B/A, as well. It's like saying they're not mature enough to still ( ... )

What's your one true pairing/3/ship of choice/favorite pairing/tripling/orgy/people you sometimes like to see have sex (OTP3SOCFPTOPYSLTSHS)? Well, besides Fairy!Spike/Unicorn!Wes? That would be B/A, little buddy.

What's something you love about it? Honestly, too many reasons to name but one reason I adore the B/A relationship is that through everything--life, death, resurrections, sons, new lovers, old lovers, hellgods, apocalypii, everything--there is still that connection that draws them together. Try as they might to ignore it or push it aside, they can't. And *that* sucks me in like nothing else.

What's a reason you think these characters are good together? See above. Also, they know each other in ways no one else does and that knowledge only serves to enhance their love.

What would you say about it if you wanted to try to get someone interested in it? Best.ship.ever. Nothing I could say could get anyone interested in B/A because all they would hear is "OMG!B/A4vaandeva!SQUEEE!"

Is there any meta/manifesto/discussions you ( ... )

Yeah, I should've clarified my post with a disclaimer that Xander's Cock/World was really everyone's ship, and that I meant besides that. ;o)

through everything--life, death, resurrections, sons, new lovers, old lovers, hellgods, apocalypii, everything--there is still that connection that draws them together.

Oh, me too. I have a meta-like-thing about it I'm about to post. Yay!

all they would hear is "OMG!B/A4vaandeva!SQUEEE!"

I understand completely. Sometimes when I think about them I just get this goofy smile on my face. They make me happy in a way I can't really express. But I try.

Off the top of my head, Ducks' B/A manifesto. That, in a nutshell, is why I ship B/A.

I love that essay.

marenfic's The Mature Plan

Ack. I've been meaning to read that one forever.

Ducks' Something Old series and jade_okelani's Bittersweet Legacy

canadiangirl86 is going to kick me out of B/A fandom and take away my B/A bonnet because I've never read either of these. I keep ( ... )

Yay! There's a lot of your fic I've been meaning to read. I like having time and feeling unstressed when I settle in for a good fic, so I've been biding my time with a lot of fic.

What's your one true pairing/3/ship of choice/favorite pairing/tripling/orgy/people you sometimes like to see have sex (OTP3SOCFPTOPYSLTSHS)? Buffy/Angel

What's something you love about it? They love each other, perhaps epically, but they are the heroes and they have responsibilities that are as big and maybe more important than their love. As heroes, they have to choose their responsibilities. As a fan, I get to choose their love :)

What's a reason you think these characters are good together? My favorite thing about Buffy and Angel is their potential. What grabbed me initially was the chemistry and the tragic love story but what kept me interested was watching them continue to love each other, quietly, even after they had resigned themselves to never be together. After they'd moved to different networks. Even after they began to love other people. And I think that it's their time apart that gives them the tools to be a successful couple in the future-- they can add emotional and physical maturity and a very deep ( ... )

What's a scene in canon that occurs between these two characters you really like (if they met in canon)? Just one? Probably in "Chosen" when Buffy says she does think of him in her future, someday, and he says he's not getting any older with that little smile. That, my friends, is potential.

What's a fic you love that features it? There are many, but my current favorite piece of fluff is Stains by Vatrixsta Cruden, my current favorite smutfic is Concessions by Gia, and my favorite angst fic of the moment is All of This and Nothing by Chrislee. Of course, these change at any given moment :)

What's a fic you consider a "classic" to it (even if you yourself don't think much of it)? The ultimate classics are Phoenix Burning by Yahtzee, Something Old by Ducks, Bittersweet Legacy by Vatrixsta Cruden and Domestication by Indie.

What's a fic you might rec to someone to introduce them to it/romance them into it? Well I think Phoenix Burning is a gimme, so I think I'd say maybe Waiting for the Sun by Chrislee.

What's an element you ( ... )

Hmm, I do have a kink for a good possessive "mine"

And that, my friend, is why I'm co-writing with you. We can indulge our biting/possessive kinks. *g*

My biggest pet peeve, the one that makes me want to scream, is when people say Buffy and Angel wouldn't work in the future because they "don't know each other" or "have nothing in common". They would definitely get to know each other again but they would like one another, and more, they have everything in common. They are the heroes, they share values and beliefs, they find family and friends extremely important, etc. It's just the dumbest argument against future B/A ever.

Just reading over your comments, I think we share a lot of viewpoints on this. Buffy and Angel share a common set of values - values that are deeply important to them - and that mutual awareness is a huge thing. The respect for responsibilities is what bonds them together and also what requires them to be apart, and it provides a lot of fodder.

Oh, and this?

And when some people read B/Gunn they think: hey! those two never even met!

All I can say is, they should have. They really should have.

Also :p

Hee. I confess, I was wondering whether you might do B/Gunn, as I know you've written some fic (which I've also been meaning to read . . .) But viciouswishes stepped up, which makes me happy, because it's a ship I kind of didn't understand until I read her answers. Now I'm more looking forward to trying out fic in it.

Well, Buffy/Gunn is a new favorite of mine and one that I'll probably keep writing, but B/A is my OTP. I might do B/Wes though, as that is my favorite fic pairing. . .

What's your one true pairing/3/ship of choice/favorite pairing/tripling/orgy/people you sometimes like to see have sex (OTP3SOCFPTOPYSLTSHS)? I don't have just one, but one of my favorites is Willow/Giles, and no one's touched it yet, so!
What's something you love about it? The age difference/teacherkink. Because I am a Great Big Perv.
What's a reason you think these characters are good together? They mirror each other; Giles fell into dark magic when he was Willow's age and sees both his innocence and his fall in Willow; he can't save her and he won't teach her and then they finally sit together in England sadder, wiser, together still.
What would you say about it if you wanted to try to get someone interested in it? I'd mostly just point to the shippy moments in canon and the "No wonder I used to have such a big crush on him" and flail about going "canon! See, it's canon!"
Is there any meta/manifesto/discussions you might link to for someone just getting into the pairing? The ship_manfifesto essay is here.

Heck, you might have just turned me into a W/G 'shipper with that description!
