HELLO! You're watching The Newsroom! I love Sloane kind of a lot, actually, aaaand also it's possible I'm hugely into Sloane/Don, shhh don't tell, it's my embarrassing shipping secret.

Also, finding jeans that fit is my holy grail; totally, totally buy a bunch if you find a pair that works for you!

I am in fact watching The Newsroom! I'm through the first season and I guess there are only like four or five eps of the second that have aired, so I'm not too far behind. BUT SLOANE AND DON, REALLY? Lulz. Honestly that comment she made was SO out of left field for me that I didn't quite know what to make of it (and apparently neither did Don). I will say that Jim and Maggie just leave me so cold. I swear I want to punch Maggie in the head 24 hours a day, and if this were remotely the real world she would be so fired (but they probably all would be). IN ANY CASE. I am really enjoying the show as a show. I do miss shipping things, but that always seems to end in tragedy . . .

YES, it is absolutely the holy grail, and I thought I was dreaming or something when I took them out of the package and they fit. I will probably buy a couple more and hope I can manage to get my ass back into my proper exercise routine. Otherwise, uh. LOL.

Are your fav cops making out again yet? I mean with each other?

REALLY SLOANE AND DON, REALLY. I don't know why or how that is happening for me, because her comment first season DID come out of left field, totally, buuuut it really really is. Jim and Maggie are just so super gross for me as well, and yes, everyone should be fired, for certain. Anyway. I am so glad to hear you're enjoying it.

And ha, exercise routine, who needs that! You had some sort of injury that was interfering with fitness, right? Are you all better now?

The cops, they are not even yet making out with each other! But it is somehow enhancing my enjoyment of the show, I don't even know, it might be magic, I just want the girl cop to make out with a new boy cop like super, SUPER desperately? Obv one day I want a lifelong kissing commitment between her and Sam but for now it's so fabulous, watching them both gaze and pine and flirt and feel.

I do have to admit loving Don's OMG HOLY SHIT face, because it is so fucking funny. His hair gives me fits though. I'm so deep.

Yeah, I had messed up my foot pretty badly, plus I have some back issues that I'm supposed to be getting PT for (never get old, I swear!), but I'm back to being able to run as long as I don't overdo it. Which uh, doesn't seem to have been a danger lately. I absolutely have to get back into a regular routine before the holidays hit, or I'm screwed!

Hee, omg I am so dying that you love your OTP making out with other people as long as they're still endgame. It's so evolved of you, and my entire self wishes I weren't so damn picky about stupid tv. I'm super glad it's delighting you though. I'm debating between a 24 S7 rewatch and House of Cards. I change my mind minute to minute, I tell you.

You found jeans that fit for $29.00 a pair. Yes, buy a couple of spare pairs, assuming your weight is stable.

The trailer for S4 of TWD has me so freaked out that I can barely even look forward to the premiere. For those of you who watch Breaking Bad: Do you think this is just a trend -- the thing where basically they just make every season ten times darker than the last one until they hit terminal darkness velocity? Just pondering.

I don't know. According to Vince Gilligan, "Breaking Bad" was always supposed to be about Walter White's decent into darkness. I quit watching after season two. I just couldn't do it anymore.

It makes sense that people would be dying during an apocalypse, right? That's why I'm not watching that show--or Game of Thrones. I watch only four shows, all dramas. There does seem to be a lot more violence on the two that are on Fx. Like Breaking Bad, TWD is on AMC, so they don't play by network rules either. I'd say you are in for a world of hurt. Sorry.

It is super delightful that they are so cheap, yes. I've had multiple people recommend Seven jeans to me, but holy crap. I can't spend that much money on jeans! I will probably order a few more pairs and cross my fingers that my recent apathy about exercise isn't permanent. Argh ( ... )

I watched and loved Elementary, although with CBS blocked out by my cable provider that's up in the air. I watched Nashville, which is my primetime soap with country/folk music. I love Connie Britten in anything and love the music, and really the whole cast is wonderful. The writing, well, it got a little shaky the last half of the season. But I'll tune in again. I have been watching Justified on Netflix. We're waiting for season four to be released. It's got great characters and great writing, for the first two seasons anyway. Really violent. Gad. So many characters die on that series. And most recently, The Americans. A spy show set in the eighties with a canon arranged marriage where the undercover characters are falling in love! There are no good guys, only various shades of gray. It's also very violent. My husband hates it and won't watch with me, but my son and I are hooked. Best written new show of last year without question. Wonderful acting. They should have got all Emmy noms that went to Homeland and that ridiculous, over- ( ... )

Why does your cable provider block CBS? I've never heard of that one!

Basically everyone I follow on tumblr watches Elementary, and I know it's beautiful people being beautiful, but so far I haven't been tempted enough to dive in. Connie Britton is SO GREAT, and she almost makes me want to watch Friday Night Lights, but again, that show probably has way too much sunshine and happiness for my taste. I need another show like XF, dammit! And yes, Justified is SO VIOLENT. I watched it for the first two and a half seasons and honestly liked a great deal of it, which is surprising for me. But then they got to that freaky blond dude and I just got bored. One of the reasons I loved S2 so much was that the main story arc pulled in so many of the central characters. It was such compelling TV to have Raylan pulled around by his past and his relationship with Boyd and Helen (waugh) and his dad and just ugh. Stupid show that made me so sad. Plus, Tim Olyphant is HOT.

I'm thinking about trying House of Cards, which I believe is on Netflix. I ( ... )

Yay for jeans that fit and for cool August weather! I'm so happy that it hasn't been hot (we've still gotten some terrible humidity here on some days, but it's much better than humidity and heat together, plus on days when the humidity is low, it's great)

As wendelah1 said, the show getting darker and darker (and Walt becoming more and more horrible) was the path that Breaking Bad was intended to go down from the beginning, but I am not sure if that is a similar trend other shows are following? I'm sorry you're so freaked out by the TWD trailer, though *hugs* I really hope that this next season won't be too dark/disturbing for you ( ... )

Yeah, it's super humid here today also, even though it's not that hot (maybe 80). But we have had some insanely gorgeous days, particularly for August. And my six day says that tomorrow night's low is 47, SO I CAN GET BEHIND THAT ( ... )

Omg, 47! That's amazing!

here's that line about "Love something so much you can't be controlled." But at least at this point, it never seems that he DOES love her that much, because he's allowing himself to be controlled even when he won't 100% admit it
No, yeah, I get you- that's SO frustrating, but at the same time it worked for me because I know it's not easy to fight back against the negativity and demons and certain aspects of you that that control can easily take over, and a lot of times he slips under, and also doesn't want to admit it because he hates himself for the fact that the Mayor CAN control him, and wants to think he has more control over himself than he does. I need to do a reread so I can better converse about these books with you instead of these very general vague-sounding responses, haha.

Do you think Jesse will live?I'm leaning towards no, sadly :( He's in such a dark place right now- he doesn't even want to keep any of the money that he earned from their meth cooking because of all the awful things that have ( ... )

I do understand what you mean about the difficult of fighting back, and I get that this is what they're trying to do with Todd. I just love Viola a lot more, even though of course she also has her flaws. They're torturing me now with how little the two of them get to be in the same physical space. The first book they were together the entire time, and I'm like NOOOOOOOOOO ( ... )

I'm glad that somebody is still making boot leg jeans. I am adapting to the aesthetic of straight leg pants, but it's good to have options.

Am I the only one excited about more 24? I predict more freaking out as the premier date approaches.

My Mom raves about newsroom so I should try to watch a few episodes. i watch the pilot and wasn't that interested.

I am adapting to the aesthetic of straight leg pants, but it's good to have options.I hated skinny jeans the day they came out and I hate them today, so I will never wear them. That said, it IS quite the challenge to find boot cut jeans now. I keep wondering if skinny jeans will ever leave, and the answer is probably not. Even the waist high mom jean look is coming back now, causing me to wonder how high people are when they make their fashions. I mean that always ways and always has been a terrible look on everyone, even people who have lovely bodies. Confusing, but oh well ( ... )

There is a difference between "Straight Leg" and "skinny" pants. I recently purchased a pair of Straight Khaki's from the Gap and find them comfortable and flattering. Ditto for my most recent Levi's.

I am with you on "skinny" pants, at least for now.

I think about these things too much.

OH! Straight leg isn't bad, nope. You're right. I also consider the difference, believe me. I don't love straight leg for me, but they look super flattering on many people. I just kinda feel as if there isn't a person in the world who looks better in skinny jeans than they would look in a different kind of jeans.

But I have lots of really weird opinions, ahahahahaha. Oy.

Did you listen to "Flaws" yet? It's so Jack/Renee to me. Then again I hear just about anything and I think of them. SIGH.

I like those jeans a lot. Maybe when I get a job I'll be able to afford jeans.

The last ep of The Newsroom made me so ... weirdly anxious. They did it in real time. It was like 24. Well in that ONE way. So one ep of News Night was going on the whole time and I just had this weird anxiousness the whole time that things could go differently than planned and it was just bizarre because obviously it was just as scripted as all the other eps but it didn't feel like I could predict anything. Anyway, I'm glad you're watching with me and glad you like the politics. The characters are far too flawed and human for you to fall in love. This does not surprise me. Nope ( ... )

The whole HoGo line about how fans would be heartbroken if Chloe weren't in it makes me so mad I'm at the point of laughter. Please, Howard Gordon. Pretend some more to be concerned with the hearts of the fans. He'd kill off Chloe just as quickly as anyone else if he thought someone somewhere would pat him on the back for it and call it powerful story telling. THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS ALL THE THIS ( ... )

Probably she's there because the purpose of her powerful story arc is to lead him to Renee, who is very much alive and conceivably trapped in Russia and Jack has to find her, the peril, the pain, the hope, the rejuvenated spirit and will to live another day!

Only she's actually working with the Russians.

BECAUSE THAT IS HOW TO MAKE IT WORSE AND I WOULDN'T PUT IT PAST THEM AND IT WOULD HAVE EMOTIONAL MMMFPH

ETA: I just noticed your subject line. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh Meg Ryan.

AND SHE'S THEIR BAIT TO LURE JACK INTO THEIR CLUTCHES, WHERE SHE WILL TORTURE HIM TERRIBLY, ALL THE WHILE CHANNELING EARLY S8 RENEE WHEN SHE WAS BATSHIT INSANE.

Ahahahaha, nope. Mostly Jack will just run around doing something stupid and Chloe will make her standard faces, but they'll be back on the air so normal people will be happy. Meh. Being normal would sometimes be nice man.
