Riley got up, and stood in front of the jury, taking a deep breath before he began:

"Peter Schumann's death was an extremely tragic event. No child should ever lose his life that young, and no parent should ever have to pick out a coffin for their child. However, that is not the question at hand. The question at hand is whether or not Alex Lumberg intentionally shot this young boy, and whether or not the evidence supports that. Does the fact that the gun was in his posession really prove intent? Does a coerced confession from a couple of overzealous detectives really prove guilt? Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, has the evidence that has been presented to you really strong enough and convincing enough to send a fifteen year-old boy to and adult prison for the next twenty to twenty-five years, years when he should be in school, going to college. Years when he should be bettering his life and getting out of that community of hate and fear. Is that evidence really strong enough to justify a guilty verdict?" He paused, "I don't
