React OS ?

I found a reference to this when reading the Linux is not Windows page. To quote from the home page:

ReactOS® is a free, modern operating system based on the design of Windows® XP/2003. Written completely from scratch, it aims to follow the Windows® architecture designed by Microsoft from the hardware level right through to the application level. ( Read more... )

Notice how "Free Software" uses caps in the first sentence, and the way "Microsoft Windows(TM)" is juxtaposed in the next clause. And this wouldn't be the only hot-button quality the project is presenting. The Microsoftian NT/post-NT split seems to be carrying most of the energy, and the fact that the ReactOS "file metaphor" (i.e., objects) in principle may be non-hierachical (which is probably impossible, but still.)

It reminds me of Plan9, somehow. LINK

Yes, I foresee problems later on, if and when programs are designed for ReactOS that DON'T work on Windows. As far as PLAN 9 goes, I think they're "stupid stupid earth men!" (quote from Plan 9 from Outer Space). ;)
