LAST OOC POST FOR ~NANOMITES~

Mar 19, 2011 09:05

Before the endgames go underway, there are ~THREE THINGS~ I need to post:

One: I know some logs/mini-plots were planned for the event, so I'm just setting this last OOC post up so you guys can work out any last-minute details.

Two: THROWING NANOMITED PEOPLE INTO LEVEL 0. Okay, so I clarified on this a little in Loki's post, but I'm going to repeat it here for anyone who didn't see. Level 0 nullifies abilities granted by the nanomites (and, in Loki's case, the poison, because not doing that would basically make him unplayable), but it doesn't nullify the nanomites themselves. This means that super soldiers won't be able to USE any abilities, but they'll still be driven by the programming (so, PROTECT REX blahblah) and that evil wardens will still be jerks until deprogrammed, even if they're in Zero.

Three: Durhur, so I'm an idiot and won't be around for most of tomorrow. Why? Because a friend I haven't seen in about seven or eight years is going to be in Austin, so I'm going to go see her. I THOUGHT IT WAS NEXT WEEKEND, BECAUSE I KEPT GETTING TOLD "the 26th" but no. It's... tomorrow. So, I FEEL LIKE A DICK, but RL > RP, especially when it comes to a friend I haven't seen in almost a decade (oh god... I'm old...).

However, it shouldn't affect the plot much at all. Rex's role will be over, timeline-wise, by the end of the day today. Tomorrow is mostly rounding up the rest of his goons/nanomited wardens, hauling them into Zero so they can't hurt anyone, and making Rex deprogram them. I assume it'll largely consist of reaction, FU REX, etc. posts, so yeah. Rex's absence can just be explained away as him sulking in Level 0 like a big petulant baby.

As for how the nanomites will be deprogrammed, MORE ON THAT UNDER THE CUT.

Since Rex, in canon, has been shown several times to remotely activate different functions in nanomites... and in TLV he's been shown to program a self-termination code in the nanomites to hide evidence, IT STANDS TO REASON that the nanomites have a self-termination mode that he can trigger remotely. So, as long as his remote doesn't get broken in the take-down, there's a quick deus ex machina solution for getting rid of the nanomites.

What will likely happen is (if I'm not around to play this out), Rex will insist that he has a way of getting rid of them completely... don't trust him. He'll try to trigger the "EAT Y'ALL FROM THE INSIDE" function, which would kill and reset everyone, but is... horrifying. Data can study the remote and find the more harmless self-termination code in the programming, and they can make Rex put in the prompt/password/whatever for it, all the nanomites commit robot suicide and deteriorate, THE END. EVERYBODY LIVES HAPPILY EVER AFTER.

I'm still waking up, so I'm sorry if this is incoherent :c
