Neil was out of his room as well, walking towards the stairwell when he spotted the unfamiliar face. He didn't know if he should bother greeting the individual at all; he'd probably just make him miserable, like everyone else in his life. Still, he couldn't pretend he didn't see him, as he was passing by him. He nodded slightly, looking towards the ground and mumbled a, "Hello", but kept walking.

Kung Lao hadn't run into many people so far on his exploration of the barge. As the tall fellow walked by and mumbled "hello", Kung Lao stopped walking. He smiled and tried to look the man in the eyes to return the greeting, but to his surprise, the man had kept walking down the hall.
Well, that was a bit awkward. But Kung Lao had been taught to be polite, and the polite thing one should do when greeted is greet back. Unsure if the man was perhaps in a hurry, Kung Lao watched him for a second.
"-Hello!" he quickly called out, hoping the stranger heard him.
Neil stopped and looked over his shoulder. Maybe the man actually wanted something? He turned around to face him. "Yeah, hello," He said again, this time putting more emotion into it. "Do you, like, need something? Are you lost? Are you looking for the toilet? Look, if you need some money, I don't have any..."
He didn't know what Kung Lao was after, but that covered all the obvious bases.
"Oh, no," Kung Lao replied, keeping a friendly smile on his face, "I just thought since you had said hello to me, I should greet you back. Sorry, I didn't mean to trouble you if you're in a hurry."
Hopefully he hadn't bothered the man too much. He had just merely wanted to be polite, after all.
