Saturday After Breakfast: The Hike Begins (open/tag at will) scarlet_discord July 16 2011, 22:35:56 UTC
"This is freaking amazing. I want to record pictures of all of it." Wanda had dressed practically, in black jeans, red sneakers and one of her artfully tattered t-shirts. She turned back to her companions and offered a smile that was one of her first since last weekend.

She wouldn't have minded going with Tony alone, but the idea of four friends with powers against the wilds just excited her. OK, well technically it was two Wardens and their Inmates, but all of them were friends whom she trusted. At least mostly.

What she didn't quite trust were her powers, and if she could rely on them in case of something bad going down.

Tony was wearing a t-shirt with a picture of a dinosaur skeleton on it and jeans. It was only fitting after all. "Well, we've got our journals, right? We should take videos when we see a dinosaur or something."

"That sounds like a great idea. As long as we don't do it from too close. Did you get anything from the Admiral about this place and stuff we should watch out for?"

"Trust me, we won't be getting too close to any of them if we can help it. Don't want any of you getting stepped on."

Saturday Lunch: Crossing a Stream (open/tag at will) scarlet_discord July 16 2011, 22:46:37 UTC
It was a fast-moving stream, deep and a little murky from the dark moss that clung in long streamers to the rocks. Every once in a while a long fishy shape flitted past through the water, fighting their way upstream.

"Okay. What odds do we want to lay that those aren't giant piranhas or something?" Wanda said somewhat tentatively as she stood on the bank.

"I'd say that there was never a such thing as giant piranha, but I honestly don't know enough about the subject to make that promise. I probably better go out first and see how deep this thing is."

"I'll just...wait for your okay." She was gutsy but not stupid.

As she waited on the bank, she peered into the water, which turned out to be blood-warm and with a moss-and-algae slick bottom. Tiny fish swarmed ticklishly in the calmer patches.

"Yeah, I don't know, either. I should have watched the discovery channel more."

Saturday afternoon: Someone Else Wants Lunch tlv_dinos July 16 2011, 22:49:16 UTC
A high, shrilling call echoed through the forest off ahead and to the left. A few seconds later, a second call came from behind. Brush crashed off to the right. The wind carried a faint but growing snakehouse smell.

"Um..." Tony froze, glancing around. "What's that noise?"

Guys...

[A faint throaty rattling from behind a clump of trees]

Is anybody reminded of wolf howls?

"You're looking pale, there, bro," Wanda commented to Tony a little worriedly as she dug in her pack. Water canteen, Power Bars, some apples and oranges...she tossed him an orange. "It's Miller Time without the Miller, heroes, what do you say?"

"Thanks." He took the orange and, after peeling it almost frantically, he devoured it. "How much food do we have?"

Luke reaches into his own backpack and pulls out one of those energy bars, biting off about half in a single bite. "If you want, we can always go back and cut up that raptor Frankie killed. Speaking of which, that thing isn't going to turn into a vampire raptor, is it?"

Early Sunday Morning: A Fence In The Way scarlet_discord July 18 2011, 22:08:33 UTC
Wanda scowled up at the electrified fence, shaking her head. "I think I can glitch it if I try hard enough, but I won't be able to climb after. Too tired. Maybe dig under or make a hole?"

"Or we could just go through it," Luke said as he seemed to be sizing up the fence.

"Can you deal with that much electricity?" She mock-sighed and shook her head in fake exasperation. "Luke, you are going to get your own drinking game at this rate. 'Take a drink when Luke does something badass and then goes back to being Mellow Guy within five minutes.'"

Franklin moved to beside Luke, and looked over the fence. "I could test it," he said confidently. "If I start smoking, Luke could pull me off." Whereas they couldn't pull Luke away if the same happened in reverse.
