Even after sleeping through the night, Morgan felt exhausted -- moreso mentally than physically. There'd never been a flood like this before, but the Barge never ceased to find ways to remind her of how much she missed certain people back home -- especially the ones that weren't there anymore. As for Rube -- it surprised her a little that her father had spoken to him. He tended to treat her like those things were her business. He never told her if he saw women when he went into port; it was just the sort of thing neither of them got involved with.
Rube went to open the door, stuffing the letter into his back pocket as he did.
Morgan looked tired, and he didn't like that. Obviously, everything that had happened had taken a toll on those who had been replaced - JD certainly was taking it badly, too.
He moved aside to let her in. "Make yourself at home."
The last time Morgan had come to his room, he'd made her dinner. It was nice to just relax, and it'd been the first time in a while that they'd spent any long period of time alone with each other where it didn't end with them fighting. Rube's room was always oddly important, though, perhaps because eh could be such a private person; if he invited her in, it was important.
So she entered, and as always was slow to "make herself comfortable", preferring to wait and see what he did first.
He rarely opened his home up to other people - not just because of his preference for privacy, but also because people had a tendency to steal things. Mason was an excellent example of that kind of thing.
Morgan, however, was a different story. He didn't trust many people the way he trusted her. Rube placed a hand on the small of her back and guided her to a chair.
"Make yourself at home usually means 'have a seat'," he said.

Coming to Rube's door, she knocked.
