I'm killing time while I wait for things on the stove. I'm making some clam chowder (not just heating up a canned version) because Tim's had a hankering for it lately. We got back yesterday at about 6:15 pm. Since we left KC at about 6 am, we made decent time. The drive home was far smoother--no detours and Rook had learned his lesson about taking advantage of rest stop opportunities.

So we've been in KC for a couple of days now. It's been a blast so far. Sunday night Tim and I stayed with nimawae  and c3fyn  while Rook spent the night with grandparents. Yay for an evening of not being Mommy & Daddy! I have had fun lunches with people and have more fun things scheduled. I'm not used to having a dance card that's *quite* this full.

Grades posted yesterday. I earned an A in each class, including Arthurian Lit, which I had figured I would have a B in. Currently I have a 4.0 for PhD work, and I hope to maintain it. I feel like I really worked for my grades this semester whereas last semester was fairly easy ( Read more... )

One of the papers I have to write has been reduced from a 20 page suggested length to 12-15 pages. This is awesome, awesome news! 12 pages is so much more doable for me. Whew.

Ugh, Rook has pink eye. In both eyes. I've never had it, so it's entirely foreign to me. We took him to the doctor ($70) yesterday and got some eyedrops ($15) and it's already clearing up. He's out of school until Tuesday. When he returns, it will be to take a standardized reading test. At least he's good at reading and can practice at home. Still ( Read more... )
